Hansson 3 point snow blower

I have a Hanson 3 point snow blower that came with my EX3200. It doesnt seem to throw snow very far. Maybe 10' on a good day, most of the time 6-7'. I run the tractor up to 540 rear PTO speed. Just doesnt seem to work all that well. I see people with other snowblowers on tractors tossing it over twice as far. I saw somewhere that people block off part of the top shoot. Would this work?

Hoping to find someone else that has had similar experience.

Have you checked to see if your shear bolts on the impeller shaft are still there??

You need an impeller kit for your snow blower and you also need to use Fluid Film to coat the chute spout and impeller to make it throw the snow farther. You can purchase a snow blower impeller kit on amazon or ebay. You just have to make sure you tell them how wide your impeller paddles are to get the right kit.

Or you can also make your own kit with something like conveyor belting, or heavy duty truck mudflaps.

I had the same sad condition happen when I had a blower. As it turned out - it was about 99% due to the condition of the snow. Wet, heavy snow does not blow well. Dry, crunchy snow will blow a great distance. The condition of the snow on my mile long driveway will change considerably. Snow shaded by my big pines blows great. Snow out in the sun - not as well.

I'm retired. So .... there is no real need to clear the driveway right now. I would check the wx forecast and wait for a cold day or blow the snow early in the AM. Most any time when the temps were around 20F or colder - the snow would blow great.

I have a much larger tractor and rear blade now. So the condition of the snow is not so all important.

like Oosik says above, it all depends on the weight and depth of the snow. The wetter it is, the tougher it is to deal with.

I have a 5’ blower on a 50 hp skidsteer. I find that, unless I’m dealing with powdery snow, I get the best results by only taking half a bite of the width of the blower. For heavy packed snow, I’ll only take a quarter of a bite. Obviously on a first pass you have to use the whole width, but you just have to slow down your forward movement.

When I’m pushing back piles (normally plow with my truck), I use the blower like a cheese slicer, pushing into the pile with maybe only 5” of the blower width.
