Hey plowking,
.
I don't mind paying him and getting a better job than I could ever do. Last fall he was working on a truck bed and had a piece of steel on the forklift moving it under the truck bed that was raised, he was walking up to secure it under the truck when the wind blew it off the forklift and hit him in the head.
He got a major concussion from this and missed all the harvest work he usually gets. The doctor said it will be another 1 to 1 1/2 years before he is full back and not getting headaches. I've been tipping him extra so he could get a free lunch or two for each job he does and he told me no one ever tips him.
He is a great wielder, one man shop in a small town about 7 miles from my house so that makes it nice also.
You're a good person. Nothing wrong with helping someone out.
