Robably the strongest storm I've ever witnessed here in WV. Trees started fall ing from the wood line as I was securing my daughters yard toys. Got my wife's car moved, but a tree got mine before I could get to it. Not too much damage but a first for me. Been cleaning up all morning and can finally get out to go get gas for the generator, but may have to go a ways to get it. Thankful my house wasn't damaged, and that I have a generator. Sure hope others in the area made out as well as I did given the intensity of the storm. Here's a few pics of the damage.

I saw that on the news this morning, it sure looks bad there. We need rain, but not at that cost; hope things work out OK for you.

Wow, sorry to hear about your damage, but look on the bright side, even though your car is damaged, at least it is still weather proof and the interior is not ruined. Also you house is still intact and every one is OK. I hope your neighbors are all OK. Good luck with the clean up and the insurance company.

I live about 15 or 20 miles as the crow flies form liberty and we have the same damage. I have been on generator power since the storm hit. I saw tree limbs flying across the valley and heard trees snapping before the wind even got to the house and when it hit it sounded like a train and I could feel the house shaking and at one point I though we were having a tornado. I have several large oak trees down and I have not been on the ridge yet. Its 92 degrees and rising so I went and picked up a window unit to take the edge off the heat in the house. I had to do the same for my FIL and MIL as he is on oxygen and is low on cylinders and needs electricity to use his concentrator. Power is out to the majority of WV and fuel is hard to come by because only a few stations are open with long lines or empty tanks. Such is life in WV. I feel blessed that nobody was hurt and we had to cancel the big cookout planned.

We received the tail end of that storm. We didn't receive the damage that you did, but we lost power for 4 hours last night and again this morning. My Son and I were out at around 6:00AM this morning picking up limbs and debris and taking them to the burn pile. There was no damage to our Home, and I had already secured things outside. This morning, there were still 13,000 homes without power in the lower part of our County and the County next to us. The weird thing is that we only received a sprinkle of rain, but the wind really howled.

Saw heavy winds and rain here as well. The wind was insane, at least as strong as what we see during hurricanes judging by eye. I thought for sure there would be major damage, but I only had one tree come down and it went away from our yard into the woods (also missing my tractor shed). We lost power several times for a few minutes, but it was back up steady by about 1am. We'd sure be in trouble without AC today.

Yeah I'm just glad everyone is ok. So far I'm only hearing of fixable damage, no injuries or fatalities. Even though it only lasted 5-10 minutes, it was the strongest wind I've encountered since moving to WV from SC in 1987 (I was only 6 then). Just went out to get some groceries and gas for the generator, boy was that an experience. I was lucky and don't really care about the car because it is fixable, and drivable. It's a little warm in the house, 90, but just put an old window unit in to try and help with that. This is nothing compared to what tornado, wildfire, hurricane, etc victims go threw, but has really opened my eyes to what those people have to deal with.

Probably the strongest storm I've ever witnessed here in WV.

You got the same storm we did only later. Winds here were 50-60 mph (just small branches down) but looks like you had around 80 mpg. Sorry about your car but the main question is, did the X530 get scratched? :)

A few pieces of metal got pulled up on my building, but absolutely no damage to the x530!! Unfortunately I've to days of running a saw before I get to use it again. According to the news, about 85% of WV have no power. Good news is parts of Winfield and Eleanor (closest two towns) have power back, but there are so many poles and lines down on our hill that I still think it will be days before we get ours back. We lost a few trees would like to have kept, but not too big of a deal. Just trying to stay cool for now.

Consider yourself LUCKY.

One million 300,000 people are still without power in my area. States of emergency in DC, VA and MD. Biggest non-hurricane outages ever reported.

It hit us last night around 9PM and by 10PM we were knocked out, power came back on by 9AM for us. LUCKY. Massive amounts of trees down. I spent eight hours cleaning up limbs, lost no trees. I have never seen a storm more massive, move so fast. The lightening was AMAZING. It was like daylight between 10 and 12 last night.

I just heard a local electric company say 7-10 days before they are fully up.

On top of this storm, the heat and humidity is well over 100.

I pray for my neighbors.
