Had 2003 TC24D, tree killed it, thinking TC24DA

2 trees fell through the middle of my 2003 TC24D, pretty much cutting it in two. Got the insurance check to replace it, but here's my dilemma... I was so glad I got that one because they stopped making them in that style shortly thereafter. I have never really liked the new style hood/headlights, although I know that the lights actually work better. But, I am wondering if anybody has any experience between the older TC24D and the new style TC24DA or 26DA. Anything I should be aware of? I may just have to learn to like the new style and get one, but wondering if there are any downsides to the (not so) new models. Thanks.

Keep it for spare parts and look at the Case models - maybe close enough to keep you happy. Pictures?

The newer versions are still basically the same as the one you had with the major changes being styling and horsepower. Of course the new compact will come with a 3 years 2000 hour warranty and the financing right now is 0% for 36 months to month end up this way so maybe you can use the insurance money for other puposes and finanace the new tractor for free using CNH's money! Dont make the mistake of buying another "color" tractor. The Case version is a New Holland painted blue with different stickers!

Good advice on the 0%, but I'm not sure about the last statement. I'd swear the Case tractors were "painted red" instead of "painted blue." ...and they don't have ugly lights.

Horstuff, I really would not let the styling get in the way of purchasing a new NH tractor. If it had the features I wanted and it was at a dealer I have established a relationship with as a customer, then I'd buy the tractor I like best after a test drive.

The differences between the two (red and blue) are very minor, as has been said. If you were happy with the NH dealer, go back there and try to work them for a deal since you had the misfortune of having a perfectly good tractor squashed. See if the insurance company will let you keep the remains of your old one ( it's scrap value can be deducted from what they pay you) and if any hard parts from that one will be useful on a new one. Or, see if your dealer can find a used one for you just like your old one.

Yep, two trees, big hemlocks. They were in a clump and dead as can be. The thing that gets me the most is that they were the neighbors trees. I told him for two years that they were gonna cause a problem some day. Oh well. That's what insurance is for, I guess. What a hassle. Thanks, all, for the advice.

Trees falling from a neighbors property is not his problem. (although it seems like it would be, been there, done that one). Even my insurance company agreed it was my problem not his.
However, the position changes once you advise him of the dead tree that could fall (in writing of course). I told mine about it, but he denied it to the end. My insurance had to pay, and I got caught with the $500 deductable for the car policy. Using this information, a relative advised his neighbor and mentioned it to his homeowners insurance company. They promptly cancelled the policy. Some people can't win for loosing.
