My wife works at a mid size law firm.
The banks they deal with give them their own check processing machine. When they get a check they never even take it to the bank. They make the deposit right in their office on the bank's check processor.
Federal banking laws require checks to clear in 24 hrs. So if your bank says they need to "hold" the check's funds for X days to wait for it to clear, that is BS.

Tip off is no Licence Plates. He will be caught. Likely lives within 100 miles. Possibly a stolen Dually as well. Note missing clearance light on roof.

Cash can be faked too. Ask for a bank transfer to your bank and wait to release goods until your bank confirms good funds in your account.

That was probably not his first visit to the dealer or even other dealers in the area. I would be asking about video footage from every dealer in the area and if you find any, it might have a license plate visible. Also check with Big Tex trailer sales in the area. That looks like a fairly new trailer. They may have records of their sales.

Civil Asset Forfeiture applies to much more than just cash (e.g., cars, truck, boats, homes, land, buildings, etc.). If you worry about it, then you should also worry about losing more than just cash.

Just as the banks have to report you depositing or withdrawing $10k or more, getting caught with that amount on your person is a reason for the cops to detain you and investigate why. During this investigation, the money disappears for some reason or another (look up how many guns go 'missing' while in police evidence. Or drugs) and you have no recourse on getting it back.
