Ive had a bundle of 100$ ($10,000) when i sold a generator a few years ago. Never worried about it. Had no issues with it. I split it in 3 piles. Deposited 1 pile per month. I get tired of being paid in cash though…..gets to be a pain in the butt. Much prefer credit sales.

The confiscation of cash is very rare and there has to be a reason behind it as in connected to illicit activity and with that the amount doesn't matter.

Maybe where you are. There was a minor scandal here a decade or two ago where town police of Cotati (tiny village an hour north of San Francisco) earned a significant portion of their police department budget by driving another hour north on 101, nearer Humboldt County where all the dope was grown before legalization, and randomly pulling over cars they judged were hippies driving north to buy dope. (I seem to recall what they pulled over was 'every Prius'). No 'probable cause' aside from the drivers appearance. Many miles beyond their home City Limit. Easy money!

I never heard if they were later told to please stay within their own jurisdiction.

Hard to say on that one, was the area part of their extended jurisdiction? You only need reasonable suspicion for a traffic stop, not probably cause.
Vehicle search criteria has changed in the last 10years, use have less requirements, if thet were traveling to purchase drugs illegally then that would fall under illicit activity which is a pretty quick way to get things confiscated.

However if they were working outside the law then they were in the wrong, but one small town doing it doesn't really make it a wide spread thing.

Then all of you tell me why an 18 wheeler, not speeding or breaking the law, gets pulled over by three agencies simultaneously? And then the three agencies fight over who gets the bundle of cash in the trailertrailer wrapped in plastic? They let the driver go on. Pretty much always do. They said they used a roadside scanner to pick up the sum of cash. So if you can't believe it, then don't.

It's easier to fool someone than it is to convince them they've been fooled.

If you are arrested any property with you is inventoried and there is no guarantee you will receive everything back if it can be connected to a crime etc., even if you didn't commit it.

Therein lies the catch. "if it can be connected to a crime".
Cops bring in a drug sniffing dog and bingo! it's "drug" money. They are confiscating it. Doesn't matter that you didn't have the drugs. It just matters that there was drugs on it and you had it. The US money supply has drug residue all over it. I bet you could go to a police station and have all the cops on the force put their cash out and bring in a dog and the dog would find drugs. I guess then you could confiscate all the cash and make a citizens arrest of the cops since they must be drug dealers.

I have taken large sum of cash plenty of times. I also do not do anything that would get me pulled over. But if it did happen, I would have bank records proving it came from my account and would get the Attorney General involved if necessary. If all that failed then they would have a reason to arrest me. I bet the chances for all that to happen are so slim you would win the lottery first.

Unfortunately there have been people arrested for splitting up deposits to not hit the 10k reporting threshold.
Now the government is trying to get reporting on over $600 transactions.

When I go into a store wearing a germ mask, people recognize me all the time. It's difficult to believe the tractor thief hasn't been turned in by now.

Now the government is trying to get reporting on over $600 transactions.

Been doing it fir years. But i report all income. Cash included. So i can care less. I also hardly ever have less than 2-300 in my wallet . Never worry about it.
