Guy is renting out his tractor for 6 month period

Comparable full sized TLB like a deere 310 only rents for about $2k/month around me. I know its not a tractor.....but he is kinda advertising it as a TLB. And a pathetic 5' mower on that machine :ROFLMAO:

And how would any warranty issues be handled without owner present or wanting to be bothered

Who would pay that much to rent a machine for 6 months especially with all the money upfront? You’d be a lot better off buying your own.

I usually think the worst. Imagine if the tractor has a problem and out of warranty. Whoever "rents" it is liable for repairs since it wasn't returned in 'perfect' condition.
The guy may have thought this up not so much to make money but free repair.

OR, could it be soooo ridiculous, that no one would bother to take them up on the offer (with that being the whole intention) ... a way of pacifying someone who is complaining about having a tractor maybe.

ie: See, I TRIED to rent it out, but there were no takers ...

Not a good deal for either owner or renter. He fixates on his "beautiful" tractor. Wrong renter could do a LOT of non-visible damage in 6 hours, let alone a winter. Also, what if someone gets injured on the tractor because you didn't tell them about loader safety?

Tractor is the last thing I would rent out.

I cringe at the very thought of some unknown climbing on my tractor. He isn't a tractor guy. He is a PhD (Post Hole Digger) with a tractor. As for the PhD, I know a lot of dumb ass PhDs.

So I saw locally, on FB Marketplace, a Canadian snow bird renting out his 85hp tractor for a 6 month period for $1750/month, while he lives back up north. Never heard of anyone doing this. I dont know if I think its a clever way to make 12 months of payments off someone's 6 month 'lease', or a terrible idea. He goes on for probably 3 paragraphs about getting it back in perfect condition, you covering it on your own insurance, you doing all the maintenance, ect. I'm not considering renting, just something odd I saw for the first time.View attachment 799461View attachment 799462

Seems like you might be about 25% below rental yard prices; but locked into 6 months, and insurance, maintenance are 100% of renter.
Prime example of “Phishing”!

People rent equipment to run the crap out of it and what can the owner do if its returned no so perfect

That is over $10k for a 6 month rental. For us that would be over 2 years of tractor payments.

I had a friend that rented a SeaDoo for a day. During rental the engine came un-done. He thought the renter should pay to rebuild the engine. As a friend I explained that the renter did not owe him a new engine, the renter owed him the value of the used engine. I told him at the time the engine blew is was worth maybe $50. He was still perplexed. Then I said "If you had not rented it, would it have blown the next time you used it?" He answered truthfully and it was then he realized the true situation.
I suspect you might face the same issue here. Be prepared to sit in a room with the renter and a man in a black robe.
