Am going to be snow plowing this winter with my gt6000. How can i hook up an extra gas tank? I want to be plowing for a while an not run out of gas. I already have a small tank off old tractor with a hose coming out of it. Can i just cut the current liine a put in a Y adapter or something? I think im going to put it under the hood behind the battery.

PLEASE ANY TIPS APPRECIATED!!!

Does it burn that much gas? Yes, any kind of fuel-proof Y valve and approved hose, carefully routed will probably work. Me, I'd be ready for a stretch and a hot cocoa between tanks of fuel.:D

The GT 5000 has a crankcase vacuum powered pump. I'd make a bracket to hold an extra can.

Hm... so, where do you suggest for me to mount the can? I was thinking to the back, behind the seat. Would it be possible to link the second tank, (which is small), by feeding the hose through the First gas tank lid. I mean by drilling a hole, and snugly fitting the hose through the cap. I figure, if the first tank is empty, I can poor gas into the second tank, and it would fill them both at the same time. And I will just leave that hose in there.

Alternatively, you could put the tank where it works best for you and use a "Y" valve.

hmm... so I can just cut the gas line, just about anywhere.. And put a Y valve in there?

Where is a good spot to mount the tank? I mean, is there any place that could potentially be dangerous?

I'd be very cautious about connecting two tanks and I cannot give any advice about those connections. I would be more inclined to have a small trailer with shovel, salt and 2 extra gas cans; or some bracket from the rear hitch or on the frame of the snow plow. When I did this sort of thing in the '70's I had a gas can strapped to the frame of the plow (for transport only) and when I'd do a driveway I would take it off. Later I graduated to a trailer with shovel for extra $$$ for the side walks.

Ok. I appreciate all of your guys's replies. I think I will just make a bracket to hold a tank on the back. Zork, you just pull a lawn cart when you plow? do you plow with it attached? or do you remove it before starting?

Just removed it before starting. 1) Stop and get the job. 2) take the lawn cart off at a safe place.
