GT48DXLS maintenance questions

Someone said the manual called for a first oil change at 8 hours. I read it now and it says do it every 50. I didn't see a sooner interval for the first one?

The deck washout instructions advise to have water flowing, engine at high rpm, and engage the blades. Yikes. I only engage blades at low rpm, then increase rpm to mow. Is it safe and OK to engage blades at max rpm like the manual calls for?

I've found the washout port to be useless.I always engage the blades at full throttle when mowing.

Thanks. I found it in the Kawasaki manual.

I checked my tires and found they were close to 30psi !!! I let air out so they are each about 10 psi. I think I read somewhere that they overinflate the tires for shipping?

10 is good. Most times the manual will show 14 in front and 10 or 12 in the rear. Keep the 12 with the taller tires only. bagging? Keep the higher inflation. I launch a deck at about 3/4 throttle to lessen the shock on the belt.

I've been engaging the deck at idle. It bogs the engine, but doesn't kill it. So maybe I should add some more rpm?

More RPM - 2/3 - 3/4 Yes.
Tyres over-inflated for shipping - Yes.
Oil change at 8hrs - Yes
Washport and hose. RPM High - Yes.

Tip: With blades running and water 'on' alternately raise & lower deck to create 'swirl' effect using induced air. Better washout.
