Ground Hogs

I have a unique problem… at least I hope it’s unique. I’m 98 % certain a ground hog has eaten the wiring in my cars engine compartment even the sensors on top of the engine.

I took it to a local garage and they told me there were too many error codes and to take it to the dealer because it would be faster… and maybe cheaper since they know the car.

I stopped at the dealer to get a rough worst case idea of cost … could be upwards of 6 to 8 k cdn.

So needless to say I want to kill this mother fn animal… haven’t had luck with traps but have not made a concerted effort yet.
My neighbor to the south had a similar problem several years ago. But it was squirrels instead of ground hogs. They ate the oxygen sensor wiring twice, some other wiring, and chewed a hole in the gas line on top of the gas tank! He bought an over under .410 and killed 153 off a one acre lot that summer. The neighbor to my north had flashing on his roof chewed apart and water damage inside his house twice the same year. I had the gas line on my truck partially chewed apart and just barely made it to a repair garage. All in all we killed over 200 off three 1-acre lots that year. Seemed the more we killed the more appeared. I don't know why they came to our lots that year. But we had a major problem. The problem was solved the next year when a pair of hawks nested in the lot north of me. Squirrels disappeared.

I was working underneath my Massey Ferguson farm tractor last nigh about 7PM and was attacked by what appeared to be a rabid ground hog. It bit my work shoe, then ran off into the weeds. :ROFLMAO:

I have never seen a hog be aggressive like that.
I’ll shoot the sumbi@atch today when I go back over to the farm.

Ground hogs are a scourge to the earth and all of them should be shot on sight. They provide ZERO benefit to any other speicies of plant or animal.

They stink too much for me to skin them. My parents said the young ones were good to eat but I haven't bothered to skin one yet to try.
You have to know how to cook them properly for them to be a good meal. if anyone wants to know how to, PM me and I'll give you the recipe. lol

A couple years ago we saw an albino ground hog. Yesterday I saw another one and the same area but this one was smaller so it had offspring.

When we moved here we had several ground hogs. I turned my son loose with a 22. With a world of patience - he had eliminated them in a little under two months.

They have never come back.
Do you have them in Washington? I thought those were eastern US critters.
