<font color=red> must tell you that, originally, this thread was going to be posted in October. The very day I was going to post, Northcreek posted his masterpiece DIY grille guard . <font color=black> Wow.. De ja Vu... I made a grill guard for my NH 1920 a while back.. but after seeing yours.. I'm gonna wait to post mine, to avoid the same scrutiny../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif.
One difference I chose was to use I guess perferated metal instead of expanded metal.
I mow in a pasture with lotsa tall ragweed and dog fennel, and the stalks are generally about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.. with the older ones obviously a bit bigger. I found that they could get through the expanded metal at the right angle.. and more than a few times i stopped to clean my radiator prefilter to find stalks dangerously close to my radiator. The perferated metal has thousands of little holes .. say the size of a #2 pencel lead. Air flow is fine, but stalks stay out.
Good luck with your front guard... lord knows we need them!
