Is the grill guard extra, or does it have to be installed along with the LA463 loader on a L2800? My dealer has to put the loader on and I don't want to get shorted on something.

The grille guard is standard equipment. Also, you mentioned earlier that your dealer is going to fix the tractor under warranty if the PTO ratchet is a problem. However, if given the choice between getting a new tractor that has not been gutted and one that has, I probably would try to get one after the serial number break. Just a thought. They can get newer tractors by a dealer transfer of from the warehouse...however, with the recent price increase that could affect the end price.

I didn't know they had to gut the tractor to fix the PTO ratcheting. I also thought the 3pt valve was a fairly easy fix. I might no have him fix the PTO ratcheting if they really have to tear into it. It is my understanding that the ratcheting fix is more of an astetic fix, just so you dont' have to hear the ratcheting noise. Isn't the overrunning clutch running in an oil bath? So there's no real advantage to having the ratcheting fixed other than to dampen the sound? The tractor must be old inventory as the serial number is about 3,000 below the service break for the lift valve.

The tractor has to be split to put the ratchet mechanism in. We have actually had a couple of noisy ratchets fail and. So, it probably does need to be corrected. The valve repair is not as big of a deal. However, the PTO ratchet is a bit of a concern.

After reading your post, I got on the phone with my dealer. He checked on the ratcheting issue, and it has already been taken care of. He said there was a big campaign in regards to that issue and they had to do it to all of their tractors that needed it done some time ago. So he is still checking on the lift valve. I told him I didn't want the tractor unless it had the new valve, so I think he will take care of it.
