While looking at a 1999 L2500 (bucket & 27hp, 28 hrs), the dealer told me to watch out for "grey market" Kabota products. He said that they are substandard and impossible to get parts for. Is there any truth to this? I am wondering if the L2500 is one of those models since I can't find one listed anywhere. I thought it was a good deal at $12,000.

Thanks, Walton

Walton, you can go to the grey market forum and see what others have said about them. A lot of people are happy with their grey market tractors. However, I'd also suggest that you go to http://www.kubota.com and click on the product support section and read what Kubota says about the lack of support for them. There are also tips for identifying them and a list of model numbers (I don't find the L2500 listed there).

Baloney... when have you ever seen a substandard Kubota... anything! They have been using that as a scare tactic and marketing ploy to only buy what Kubota Corp., USA imports...

... and impossible to get parts for....
Only true if someone gouges you for the parts... you would have to find the US equivalent Kubota model # to stay on the safe side...

Isn't that one... the tractor company owned by Mr. Kubota's ex-wife.../w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Walton -

Several of us on the board have L2500's, and there ain't nothing grey about them. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The were the predecessors to the L2600's, which are on display at your local dealers right now.

p.s. That price sounds pretty good to me.

Nothing wrong with grey Kubotas. They were just not originally sold in that country. Made by Kubota to the same standard as all Kubotas. Dealers won't talk about them, as they lose a sale when someone buys a grey !

Most parts are accessible and the same as dealer sold ones. Just have to track down the right part number.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
