Tractor
2014 Mahindra 3616 HST
Just wanted to say HI to everyone and list what Tractor stuff I have. I'm supposed to, right?

About 2 months ago, I traded in a worn out 1978 Ford 3600 to get a Mahindra 3616 HST. I went ahead and got some implements I thought I needed, like the FEL, a roof, box blade, trailer hitch, post hole digger, pallet forks, a ratchet rake, and a quick hitch. I had already bought a 5 foot tiller. I think that's all I got. The forks have been my 'go to' thing and I'm finding out there is a host of things you can do with them. I drove a forklift for most of 30 years in a warehouse, so I guess I was already comfortable using them. I think I have 15 hours on the tractor already as it only came with 2 hours on it. It gets used at least a little almost every day.
I posted my first problem with the tractor today in the Mahindra forum. The only thing I would fix/ change on the tractor is a better level indicator for the bucket.
I live on a very small 'farm' of 17 acres where I raise hogs, a few cows, some chickens, meat rabbits, 2 dogs and the wife. I'm hoping to try my luck at gardening this year also.

looking forward to learning a lot from yall.

:welcome:
To TBN from next door in Alabama. You list Atlanta for home, but when I lived over there, the only places I found in Atlanta with 17 acres were parks.

mddorange......I'm actually right between Atl. and Macon right outside a tiny town called Milner. I normally just use Atl. because most people probably know where that is.
By the way, thanks for your service. My dad retired from the AF also. My wife's dad retired from the Army.

Thanks to all who served in the military of the USA. I am deeply appreciative of you all.

Well, when I said "I lived in Atlanta," I actually lived in Snellvile, GA, so I understand, but you are half way to Macon.

When did your father retire? My wife's father retired from the Air Force, which is how I met her. So she was really a "Lifer" since more than 40 years as a dependent.

Wow, dad retired about 40 years ago. He's 81 now and living in Mississippi on my mom's old home place. We actually drive by Guin on our way to visit them, or did. I think that changed when they finished highway 78 in that area. Quick story.........he always wanted to get stationed in Alaska while in the AF, but they would never send him. SO.......as you know, when you get out of the service, they pay for your last move, so he decided to go up there anyway. I still lived at home then, so we all headed to AK. That's where I met MY wife, way back then. Been married 36 years, so far.

Well, I retired from Alaska. Was that in Anchorage where you met your wife? You are correct, US78 used to go through Guin until a few years ago. Now it is I22. Where in Mississippi does he live? My wife and I will be married 48 years on April 15th.

It was Anchorage. Her dad was at FT. Rich. My dad retired in 1973 give or take a year, I think.
My parents live just over the Alabama line, across from Red Bay, Al. North east corner of Ms. They live outside a tiny town called Golden. It's close to Belmont too.
Another small world situation. One of our neighbors is from Hamilton, Al.
48 Years is something to be proud of. Congrats to you both.

I'm thinking that YEARS ago, we used to stop in Guin, or Guwin(?) to eat at a small BBQ place called Colemans BBQ. Dad loved that place, so did I.

Colemans BBQ is no longer around as the loss of traffic hurt. I have friends that live close to Golden on State Line Road.

Yep, I knew Coleman's was gone. The whole franchise is gone, I guess. They are the reason I still put coleslaw on my BBQ.
