I was in Mombasa in 1980 and remember it fondly. Some of my most prized memories come from statues I bought from street vendors and shops there. I was lucky to befriend the Anglican Priest at the Mission for Seaman and repair his Datsun van. As a reward he took me and two of my shipmates to the Shimba Reserve for a day trip. I'll never forget seeing elephants, sable antelope, and buffalo in the wild.
