Posthole Digger Green Mfg Post hole digger

Anybody else have a Green Mfg digger? Had a EM5000 delivered last week and used it for the first time yesterday...works great /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

One question though...in the parts bag, there's a 3/16 x 1.5" roller pin which is suppose to be inserted somewhere on the PTO shaft (I think - the instructions aren't real detailed). I can't find anyplace to insert it...anybody know where it goes?

I'm working from memory here as I don't have my manual handy at the moment.

I've got a Woods 1160 and there is a pin that (I think) mounts through the PTO shaft near the universal joint of the post-hole digger gear box. It doesn't go through the center of the shaft. Rather, it cuts a "chord" and engages a groove on the shaft.

I believe the purpose was to keep the PTO shaft from sliding out from the gear box when the shear bolt breaks.

I'll try to dig out the manual and take a look at my PHD later today. It's been about 3 years since I closely looked at the parts manual.

Rick, That makes sense! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I did see the grove around the shaft and wondered about that, but it just didn't click. I've also sheared a few bolts and had the PTO drop off /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

By the way, a local hardware store wanted $2.00 each for a shear bolt, but they were out. Went to TSC and they had grade 2 bolts for 99 cents/lb. I purchased 10 for 74 cents /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Sounds like you got a good price on the shear bolts too. I wish we had a TSC near where I live. Maybe someday.
