Today, we got my JD 4600 HST home. The trip went well. Doug, from Maine Tractor (The company I hired for hauling) was very professional and easy to work with. He'll haul about anywhere. He's even negotiating with a customer who wants to haul a load of equipment form Maine to Alaska! (expensive trip!)

With all that went on today, I didn't get a whole lot of tractoring done, but I moved a few rocks and got a stump about 2/3 dug up. I had to quit and grill the chicken, then we had a little rainstorm. I checked out a few things with the tractor in the garage after supper.

The photos show 1) The Green Machine in my back yard, 2) Me digging at the stump, 2) The Green Machine is in MY garage now! 3) Fisher snowplow converted to JDQA, 4) That's what this garage bay was built for!

More later - got a lot of manuals to read!

Yeah, now that I've paid the bill and the tractor is mine, I'll reveal the price. I paid $20,000 for the tractor, loader, hoe and snowplow. The tractor is still under 440 hours tonight.

Up here, in the expensive Northeast, I think that's a pretty good deal.

Good deal on a nice machine. I have 1 comment tho, on the blade converted to JD quick attach I see the trip springs but everything looks welded solid. If there is no pivot anytime you hit somthing the forces go up the loader arms. If the pivot has been removed it might be good to do a little re engineering.

I rechecked. This Fisher plow is set up so only the cutting edge trips. Even the original pickup truck mounting system was welded rigidly to the blade. Fisher is the most popular make around here. I know that some other systems rock the whole blade. Thanks for the "heads up" anyway.

I got that first stump out this afternoon. I graded the area reasonably well, considering the soil is full of roots.

I also started work on the road that leads to my "Rot in Peace" waste area. I have some work to do to get all the way to where I want the ultimate pile, so the stump, and a bunch of small pines, are moved to a "holding area" for now. I'll move them again when I get a safe route to my intended waste area.

I told my wife that this is our $20,000 stump. The rest will be much cheaper!

I need to install some bucket hooks! I'm thinking 3 of them.
