Greatest Product? How about the Worst Invention!

I don't know which one I'd put first, but I'd suggest nuclear weapons and rap music.

You decide for yourself! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Greatest Product? How about the Worst Inventi

Rap music is not an invention it is a disease. My vote for the worst invention would have to go the cellphone and pager. A little peace and quiet is necessary for the soul.

Gator: Better chomp that lung bomb real hard when you fall, 'cause I ain't gonna give you mouth to mouth, so if you choke, you're gonna die. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Other than Gator: Back up the bus! How many of you remember Elvis getting banned? And the ongoing cries of moral degradation sounded by many from Elvis to Alice (Cooper) to Marylin (Manson)? Man, I hear Stairway to Heaven in elevators, now! Yet to many it was singlehandedly increasing teen pregnancy rates in the 70's! I think Shania increases teen pregnancy.

I like rap beat. I hate the lyrics. Lyrics influence impressionable people. Let's make our kids in our own mold, and they won't have to be something else.

RAP IS CRAP AND CRAP IS RAP

Give me some good rock and roll IE: (Instant Karma) .None of the head banging noise though.
But hey a little Bluegrass and some Country will work for me,even a little classical and old time gospel.I don't care as long as it is good.
Just keep that rap crap turned off.

Re: Greatest Product? How about the Worst Inventi

Hey, wait! You're a musician! Bluegrass? Ever been called trailer trash? I've had much fun made of my old Doc Watson tape - it's queued up out in the garage right now.

Nelly's deceived, just like the rest. He's wasting his talent, if you can call it that, pandering to the market for "gangsta" lyrics. He could sound exactly the same and put better messages into his music - he's a pawn of the forces that would keep certain elements of society thinking that they can't change things without outside help. He's helping to keep that segment he markets to "on the plantation". I bet he'd really take issue with that! Just like Jesse, who is doing the same thing!

When they hose off some scumbag, sober him up for 30 minutes, and set him on a chair to talk about how he "verbalizes the struggle of the street", I enjoy very much O'Reilly quoting his lyrics and asking him to explain how his portrayal of women or police is verbalizing anything but savagery and hatred. Only the bad boys get press. And two in the hat at a stop light. Some things take care of themselves - not wishin' for it, just observing it.

However, I grew up hearing sermons about how the beat of rock leads to evil, and I used that and other stupid ideas as excuses to walk away from faith. Took me a long time and a lot of bumps n' bruises to see how I threw the truth away because of a few small lies. So I am careful not to condemn the medium when it is the message that is the problem.

I'm not aiming that at you, Gary, 'cause I feel very much the same as you, although I focus on the lyrics, not the melody. Mostly I'm having some fun and sharing my heart. Now get back in the trailer and beat a couple dozen of those dogs before Dukes of Hazard comes on.

Kidding! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Greatest Product? How about the Worst Inventi

I hate rap lyrics, I was at a friend of mines wedding out side the church before it started and some folks pulled up and had Trina on. Im a construction worker and she out cssed me lol. They looked offended when i asked them to turn it of or leave. They turned it down still rattling windows and little children outside. Next time they were escorted off premises and the cdplayer face confiscated till after the ceremony. I know i play my favorite music loud sometimes but i keep it in the truck and not out where folks can here it a mile away. I hate goin to the Sonic drive in to order a shake and some dips**t sitting there talkin and having the radio turned on those lyrics. Usually if im in dads truck when i get my order out ill fire up the 7.3 liter rattle box lol. I worked on a job with a kid with a Maverick with a 2000 dollar set of rims and n 1800 dollar stereo. I was over equipment repair and maintenace as well as an operator. he had a leaking radiator and kept wanting me to fill his jug up out of the company coolant tank. I told him tough that anyon that had that much high dollar crap on a 50 dollar car needs to spent some money. I belive this fellas gene pool needed chlorine.
