Greasing a B21 BH Pivot

/ Greasing a B21 BH Pivot #21
Thread forming zerks are made for untapped holes. Saves manufacturing steps. Special drivers may be required during the manufacturing process. Suspect their lead thread might be different than NPT. A NPT thread zerk might fit a thread formed hole?

Might have replaced a few?? Unintentionally, With NPT??, But never bought any to install.

OK. That makes sense. So "THRD FORM" refers to the the manufactucturing process? I didn't know that. Although like any machine guy I do know about inserted zerks - that is, I know they eventually fail & fall out. Just like we all know the fix is to tap proper threads, & reassemble with threaded zerk.

So there is not doubt the OEM zerks on the John Deere were made for tapped NPT holes. Our old JD tractor was made years ago when the goal of manufacturering was to make the best quality rather than lowest price. Looking at those 40 year old JD zerks in the photo in message #20 it's easy to see the quality.

Older stuff seems better made and better suited to hard work. Same goes for people.
