Greasing 62d/c spindles

How do you tell when you have enough grease in the blade spindles on a 62D/C MMM?

You can tell with the other fittings because you can hear it or see it starting to come out.. But with the drive over plating it is hard to see and I didnt hear anything..

I have been just giving it 2 or 3 pumps and moving on.. but want to make sure they were full..

If your MMM is designed similar to the Kubota MMM, it may take 30 to 40 pumps to completely fill each cup on the underside. The only way I can tell when full is to grease the spindle fittings with the MMM on it's side. Once full, grease will come out a small hole in the cup. Most, if not all, Kubota MMM's are delivered way under-greased. I went through a whole tube of grease the first time I completely lubed my mower.

WOW.. thanks thavil - thats sorta scary that they are that undergreased.. I reckon I will give it a few more pumps before I use it again..

On my 54" MMM , I give each spindle around 4 pumps every 25 hrs. or so ...

If you take off the blades the excess gease ends in the cup above the blades. When you sharpen the blades pull it off if there is no grease you need to give it some more. Too much and you are spreading it on your grass.

I give mine a couple of pumps about every 15 mowing hrs. I have not had to replace any deck bearings YET.
