Tractor
Various
Hey all,

JI McAllister checking in. I'm an Equipment Manager at a SF area golf course. Work on a variety of tractors here: Toro, JD, Ventrac, whatever else the superintendent decides to buy next year.

I have particular expertise in Porter tractors for any soul unfortunate enough to own one.

Glad to be here, great stuff and a lot of knowledge gained already.

That comment on Porter is interesting. There is a big dealer of vineyard and orchard equipment that has been pushing Porter locally for a couple of years. Expensive.

I used to work for Porter as one of their assembly mechanics. Last I'd heard, production had totally stopped and their top flight guy had moved on to work for Hewlett Packard instead. That was the basis of my condolences to any owners, there probably isn't much technical support out there anymore from the manufacturer. I could be wrong, perhaps they've revitalized the production line.

They are expensive, but they have some pretty amazing features and power for something small enough to fit between orchard rows. When production halted and I left the last time, they'd just moved into the third generation which we all had a lot of hope for. Really felt like we'd hammered out the early issues and were in a position to put out a solid tractor.
