Gravely Promaster 44Z blade replacement question.

I own a 2006 Gravely Promaster 44Z model # 991023, and was thinking about replacing my mulching blades myself this time around.

I can not find any blade replacement instructions on the Ariens/Gravely website. I found a place to download the Owners manual and Parts manual, (which do not have blade replacement instructions) but was unable to find a download for a Service manual.

I am wondering from under the mower if you take the blade bolt holding the blade is unscrewed in the normal counter-clockwise way or down in reverse clockwise way?

Also, does all maker/model mower blades bolts come off in this direction?

They are standard thread. counter clockwise-- lefty loosey, righty tighty

The problem with the saying is that it is only true when viewed from the top half of the nut. When viewed from the bottom half, it is backwards. When viewed from the side then it is up-down. Just remember the CW rotation tightens and CCW loosens a RH threaded fastener and it won't matter if you are viewing the bottom, top or side of a nut.

I have a PM44Z myself. The blades are pretty easy to remove but a impact driver makes it much simpler. Use the impact wrench to remove the bolts but when replacing the bolts, start them by hand. Finding blades is sometimes a challenge for me but there is a Gravely dealer about one hour from me if all else fails. I once found blades at Tractor Supply. While you have the blades off, scrape the bottom of the deck clean.
