Gravely promaster 400 transaxel repair

My 1994 30hp Gravely promaster has broken the ear on the transaxel that bolts the pto gear box to the transaxel. It can not be welded without burning the seal. Removal seems to be a major repair. Purchase alone of the transaxel is over $1,500.
I want to try JB weld or the like. What is the best over the counter steel repair?

It did not work. The J-B Weld cracked when I put the gearbox on. It shattered when the PTO was engaged. Live and learn.
