Gravely gear box

According to the photos and old manuals my gravely 30 inch deck has a left hand gear box. The blade are right hand and the rotation is right hand. Did they make a right hand gear box with the large spanner nut or did someone get a right hand and install it in a left handed box

Sorry, I have never heard of a left or right hand gearbox. And, are you talking a two wheel or four wheel tractor?

I had one of those. I cut the front of the deck out with a plasma to cut brush. Hit one stone, and shattered the shaft that goes to the tractor. It had the large nut on it. Still not sure what you are asking. I expect, all the Gravely Tractors PTO turn the same way. I had a new tractor with an adapter that allowed use of old attachments as well.

The L and R hand gear boxes look similar,, the rights are the newer ones,,
I have never owned a left, most people toss them,, the lefts are weaker,,

I guess that's why brushcutters use a belt system, to absorb the shocks!..
