Gravely 7.6 piston install..... notch direction???

'69 with a 7.6 Studebaker engine. Rebored to .20 over and purchased a new .20 piston and rings. Which direction does the notch atop the piston go??? i.e. ---
am I correct that the expansion slot on the side of the piston installs on the right side {towards the exhaust port} ??? Also ..... torque for the head bolts is 20 ft/lbs. with clean threads???

20 ft lbs sounds correct for the head bolts,trying to find a service manual for installing the piston,but in my best guess,i would say it would index towards the exhaust.
