Tis the season in my neck of the woods to toss down that grass seed. Fixing/repair spots on the yard here I went thru 15lbs of seed last Saturday (11/24/01) and four days later I'm seeing it! I hit it perfect since it showered just before I started sewing, then rained a little, a sunny day, more rain, sunshine etc. The trend will continue this week according to the weather folks. I also put down about 20lbs of "WINTER" fertilizer in spots that need some TLC.
Parts of they yard has received some nice horse manure in the past six weeks and it's really starting to look hearty in those areas which had been kinda been filled with margial earth so I'm slowly getting back to yard conditions (dug up septic lines was the culprit).
One part of the yard (outta site mainly) is rough. An old building used to be there and the concrete floor/gravel driveway have gotten leveled into the ground there and very little fill/topsoil to cover the area. I cut up some trees there and the saw dust helps. I mowed some of the fall leaves into the area and that helps some too. This weekend if possible I'm reclaiming some wet leaves from a creek bed and gonna apply to an area that's pretty darn lumpy to see if it helps the grass take hold.
