2004 kubota b7510
I recently bought a brand new Cub/ Yanmar 3ph grass catcher (model 59A40057727) to put on my Kubota. I fabricated a 3ph mount for it as my tractor (B7510) does not have a separate lift for the deck so it lifts with the rear arms. the problem is I have mowed about 100 yards in a straight line and have burnt 2 sets of belts up!!! I have checked the pto shaft, jack shaft, fan shaft and both idler pulley's and all turn freely. The belt on the pto seems to be slipping but the tension is adjusted properly. I have contacted the dealer and he hasn't a clue what could be wrong but is sending a set of belts......Did I say I bought this on Ebay? The unit seems to be perfect in every other way. Here is what I am thinking may be going on. Cub/Yan. Mid pto turns 2100 rpm and rear turns 540. My Kubota mid pto turns 2500 rpm but the rear turns at 960 rpm could I be possibly spinning the shaft on the belt? Please help me! Ken.

I could only offer a couple suggestions and questions:

1. I assume the Yanmar grass catcher is powered by the rear pto. So did the catcher collect grass in that 100 yards of cutting?

A. If not then it appears the grass catcher is unable to spin . . Frozen bearing or something jammed.

B. If in fact it is powered by the rear pto . . Then your speed of pto spin is no different of an effect for any rear pto implement . . Rear pto implements are generic.

C. If the tractor is running but STATIONARY and you DON'T have the mower engaged but you do have it dropped down to cutting position . . . so just the rear pto is engaged and running . . Is everything sucking and working properly on the grass catcher?

2. I'm not clear on what you fabricated. You didn't fabricate the 3pt and you didn't fabricate the shaft connection for the rear pto. Did you fabricate somethig that alters or offsets your lift height ???

3. The seller is sending you more belts . . but at what pace are they failing? Thosebelts are typically quite heavy duty and if they are failing in 100 yards . . . that indicates a direct battle between moveable and non movable item or fighting item. Is there some point where you have the mid pto belt connecting to the 3pt catcher running off the rear pto? If so . . You are fighting one pto with the other. The grass catcher either runs off the rear pto or the mid pto but not both.

Thanks for the reply.
this is a brand new grass catcher
1 All parts move as they should and are free.
2 I fabricated the A frame for the hitch ( lower pins and top link mount)
My tractor is a Hydrostat and the rear pto turns at 540 rpms bt when the mid PTO is engaged the mid turns at 2500 rpm and the rear turns at 960 rpm. There is no other adjustments to the speed unless you lower the engine rpms.

What it turned out to be was the was my pto turning at 960 rpm was too fast and no torque. At 540 rpm the fan spins at 2740 rpm (I think) I was spinning it at about 80% faster! The PTO runs a 7" pulley to a 2.75" pulley on a jack shaft which also has another 7" pulley that turns another 2.75" pulley on the fan. I just needed to increase the diameter of the two smaller pulleys to 4" each which brought the speed down to the required 2740 rpm and all works as it should now Mowed the entire yard (about 1.75 acres) no burnt belts and picked up all the grass
