.. Hey guys.. Well, I almost made it 24 hours after purchase of my first tractor before I started thinking of new toys for the big toy.. I've seen these grapple attachments and I want one.. Seems like the bucket sides'd get in the way of the ones that attach to the existing bucket.. What are the options and how much do they run.? Do they use existing hydraulics or does something alse hafta be added.? Thanks.!! d:^) Schneeky..

You'll need to add a remote hydraulic outlet to run the cylinder on the grapple. I added one to my 'Bota for $508. Once you have that, it'll make you want to spend more money on other stuff. That's not a bad thing. It just means you'll get more use out of your tractor.

.. How do you like it for function.? I've read that there's certain issues with the grapples that don't have individually controllable arms.. And that the bucket sides limit your carrying capacity somewhat.. Have either of these ever been an issue for you.?

Sorry, I wasn't clear with my response. I spent $508 for the remote hydraulic outlet. I don't have a grapple on my LA211. When I built my backhoe, I put a thumb on it. I've thought about a grapple, though. Say!! You could get a backhoe for your 'Bota!! A friend of mine built a grapple for his 460 Bobcat skidsteer and he really likes it. I think one with 2 small independent grapples might be cost prohibitive with the extra hydraulics involved. I built a forklift attachment for my loader that I use for hard to manage stuff and so far, so good.

Here's one I built from scratch for my Power Trac when I owned it . Using 2x2 tubing and some angle iron. I used an electric Actuator and sawed up an old log rack. It worked fairly well. Not quite as powerful as a hydraulic grapple but, it got the job done just fine and didn't cost as much. I still have the parts and may convert it over to my BX-1500 soon along with some other ideas I have for it.

I have never had a problem with capacity on my BX23 with the American Solutions grapple. There are several pictures and an explanation of the install(check out the navigation box on the left) in the [URL="http://www.bxtractors.info/page/Grapple"]BX Wiki [/URL] Grapple section.
