Hello,
I have a Grand L3540 and need advice on what to purchase to control the chute rotation on a 3ph snowthrower with hydraulic rotation. I have the hydraulics for my backhoe but I'm not sure how or what I would need to put between the rear hydraulics (normally used for the backhoe) and the snowthrower.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If it was my tractor I either install a Fasse valve or install a generic spool valve with breakaways on the BH connections.

If the snowthrower is using a cyl. for the chute rotation, I would just get a 1 spool open center valve.
Then plumb the backhoes hyd into the valve.

PS you have to match the flow of the valve to the flow of the tractor. You might well have to cut the flow down out of work ports.

Thanks for the responses. What do you mean by cut the flow down? How would I do that? I'm actually thinking about just running two lines from my loader control and using the roll function to move the chute. Any thoughts on that?

The chute might move to fast. You can slow it down with a flow control valve, with restrictor or even with 1/4" hoes. Yes you can run it off your loader valve like you said.

Depending a 12v linear actuator may be cheaper & easier to install. Actuator, wire & a DPDT switch.

Agree with Leejohn -- I'd think you can just get hoses made up with the right connectors and do as you planned -- run the roll function to move the chute. As Leejohn suggested if you use a small line it will self-restrict the flow some and probably not rotate the chute too fast. One caution is that you might have a detent-type valve control and that would turn on a potentially fast rotation that takes you a second or two to shut off. I detest these detent style controls and much prefer the plain jane control valve that just does what your hand tells it to and nothing else. If you have choices pick a valve without the detent. Then as Fallon says the 12v actuator route might be less trouble (??) I saw a post a couple of weeks ago [you can probably search for it in the forums] where a guy had installed an automotive power seat motor and gear rig to rotate his snowblower chute. Looks pretty simple. I did save the picture which is inserted here.
