Garmin only allows a single installation.

I have the last Topo Canada maps. I have instelled it several times without issue. I think the Topo maps arent as restrictive as the City Navigator, which i believe can be installed as many times as you want, but the license key to unlock the specific map sections can only be used a few times on different computers before you have to contact Garmin.

What is happening when you try to install the software on your home computer? Is the light on the drive coming on at all? Is the DVD showing up in my computer? What is your home comp specs? It looks like 2008 comes on a DVD. It may sound stupid but is your drive a DVD or CD.

I believe you are right. I did not really look over the CD when I opened it up. It is a DVD. And, I have a CD player...

My system at work has a DVD player.

There you go;). YOu can pick up a dvd drive for your PC for like 30 bucks. Its not a hard thing to install in your PC. Or install the software at work then reinstall at home once you upgrade your PC. Like i said, they arent as strict with the Topo as the City NAvigator, (At least with the version i have). So you shouldnt run into licensing issues if you did install in both places.

RobertN,

Garmin only allows the map installation on one GPS unit. It isn't a problem installing Mapsource on multiple computers.

I just did not think about the CD being DVD... I had a spare DVD player in the closet. I work in a lab doing thermal analysis of PC's, and used to do Energy Star testing of anything from component to system level. Working on them is no big deal. It's reading the label on the CD covers that gets me :D

It just finished loading.

That's what I get for assuming :D just assumed it was a regular CD

Thanks for pointing it out :D
