Well, in that case....

No prob...the caliber is secondary to the shot placement anyway.
I always figured in a survival situation, one would have a rifle as the primary weapon with a handgun as a backup.
If it we an EOTWAWKI situation, I'd have an AR-15 and a couple Glocks. Ammo would be fairly obtainable (depending on what you'd be willing to do to obtain it).
I agree. Shot placement is an absolute necessity, this point has been argued many, many times. My thoughts on having a 9mm when confronting 8ft tall, 400lb Mr. burglar in my home are clouded by my preconceived notion that all burglars will be amped up on crack or meth and impervious to the smaller 9mm round. I know this notion is bunk, but it's in my head and I can't get past the notion. A well placed shot to the hard-drive or power-supply will bring anyone down, coked up or not! It just may take a little longer. Time is precious (I would assume) in those moments of intrusion/invasion. God forbid it ever happens to me, but if it does...I want .40 cal or larger with JHP's, but that's just MY personal preference.
As for an end of the world as we know it situation, I'm with you RJ. I've been stocking up for years on both ammo and arms. I mean no one any harm, but don't come around here trying to start any trouble...!
A possible problem to my ammo hoarding: Legislation is in the works in many states right now to have ammo manufacturers laser etch all cartridges. That will drive costs up and will render all previously un-etched ammo illegal (felony)

. When you go to buy ammo from your local wallymart, they'll run you just like they do for guns and that ammo lot/serial number will follow your name for the entire life of the product. If someone gets hold of some of YOUR ammo and whacks someone...guess who's door they'll come knocking down? This legislation will only hurt law abiding citizens...just like all other gun legislation. Criminals are well...criminals. They won't use etched ammo and if they do, it will be stolen. I'm ranting, I'll shut up.
