Don't you just love the posts from the South where they're already working(playing) the dirt?

Sure do and here we are preparing for a little storm tomorrow night, maybe less than a foot though.

No kidding! It was -22F last night. Brrrr. When the furnace came on at 04:00, I nearly got out of bed to add more wood to the wood burner in the basement. Thought better of it and went back to sleep.

Fuel guy came yesterday. We used 148 gal of propane since Dec 27th. I do enjoy the benefits of all the hard labor cutting, splitting, stacking wood this time of year!

It wasn't that cold here, around 4 degrees, but our furnace kicked on around 4:45 and like a fool I did get up and add more wood. Just can't stand to hear the furnace come on knowing we are paying over 3.15 a gallon for oil.

It is a 2000 Howard HR4 rotovator. In really good shape just etching to get out there and dig something up!
Wayne, that's a beauty!:) I was going to ask you what the "handle" was for, but figured out it is a stand for when the tiller isn't attached to your tractor. My KK doesn't have that and I just prop it up on rocks.

Does HR4 mean it is 48" wide?

We are so darn spoiled down here. I wimp out all the time because I don't want to work outside if it is in the 40s. I've been putting off pulling my tomato cages from last year. We are selling the property where my garden has been, so I will not be doing a garden this year; just won't have time. I'll have to get my garden "fix" from you and everyone else until next year. Maybe we will empty out part of our freezer by then.

I will be looking forward to seeing your tilling and a growing berry patch.

Just off the subject. No Jim ... No. No. No you just can't abandon gardening and us. I was looking forward to get you started on your thread come spring. I must declare " I'm saddened indeed".  . Joking aside, we need you as our "inside green thumb" go to guy.

Yes it is nice to have a leg to stand on! Actually it works rather nicely, although I have only used it once when I set it down so we will see in the spring when I go to hook it up how good it works.

Does HR4 mean it is 48" wide?

Yes it is a 48" (more or less) tiller. Keep in mind it is maufactured in Holland so they don't use our inch system! I do call it a four foot tiller!

Now for you putting off gardening, I am not sure just how you do that! I would think it is time for you to select at least a small area and prep it with that KK tiller. Heck who empties their freezer anyway! And as far as having time, I think you will find some and I know you will enjoy things growing in the garden, bugs eating their fair share, and feeding the neighbors.

We have about five gardens that we take care of, keep one in cover crop and rotate every year. Also have about 2/3 of an acre of raspberries and we are preparing an other 1/2 acre to be planted this spring. Always fun in the gardens.

Hello Neil, well it will be a bit of time before I will even hook it up to the tractor. Keep in mind we are expecting another snowstorm tomorrow and have about a month of winter left around here.

The jury is still out on the price I paid and did I get a good deal or not. I have a few friends around here that have Howards and really like them, although their machines are the bigger machines than mine.

I have emailed the people at Howard USA and they have been very responsive to date. Also my local Kubota dealer handles or can get spare parts so that is a good thing. I just hope I didn't pull the trigger to quickly, but as soon as the LOML said "I think you should buy it", that is all it took to burn a whole in the pocket.
