Got Rats

With or without the paper? How do the mice get to the roll? Balancing act along the wire?

w/out paper, the balancing act is when they fall into the bucket of water. If they do make it to the roll it will rotate and off they go.

I've had good luck with my zapper... Depending on how many rats you kill, the batteries last a good while. It'll tell you when it's getting weak. I'm pretty sure that I killed 20 or so and it still had plenty of juice left. You just bait the thing with dry cat food and wait, you'll have a rat in there by the morning. Rats are very xenophobic and will check out the trap for a while before they go inside to get their final exit... But, if they are hungry one after another will get zapped. I can remember setting the thing up and I got a rat in 20 or so minutes (I was in my coop watching, VERY still). I would dump out the dead guy and reset it, 30 minutes later another fatty bit the dust... It'll kill mice all day long too... It took a little over a week, but I've had no rats since... Give it a try, I'm telling ya, it's no joke...

Great posts and I thank everyone. The poison station is not working so I'm going to do a pail up and see about a zapper. The pail thing I've heard of but had forgotten all about but the zapper is new to me.

The good part of this infestation is that I've cleaned the whole barn up and got rid of the junk and everything.

I have had good results with this cheap formula---An alunimum pie pan works good for a mixture of about one cup of "cornmeal" or "oats" mixed well with about 1/2 cup of cement or concrete powder. The consumed mixture will cause "bowl" blockage. Don't know if it would harm other living creatures. Yes it works:thumbsup:

I'm telling ya man, the rat zapper works great. Just get some cheapo dry cat food, some fresh D batteries and flip the switch... the following morning you'll have a nice FAT dead rat in there... Best part is, just dump it out, reset it and get more. None of your pets (if you have any) like a cat or dog can get inside and get shocked, and since you are not using and poison no one cat get sick or killed... It's a win win for you, death for rats/dumb mice... Let us know how it works for you... I'm sure there are some good deals on eBay... Just make sure you get a new one and not a used one...
