Well I got it muddy last Saturday. :D

I had a trail on the south side of my land that had a severe dip at the bottom of a down hill slope. It was very dangerous coming in and out when I had the old 9N and even tough for the ATV if I had a passenger to traverse without going too fast....

Well the dip is gone and I have a nice gentle slope now. It took a bit to get to figure out how to move the dirt with a loader. My old 9N had a trip bucket and it was not much of a digger.

I will miss the 9N because of the nostalgia factor but the LS is a great machine and has opened up a lot of capability for me. I had to adjust the lift arms from the factory lowest settings to the higher setting. If I did not my back blade would not lift high enough.

I will be clearing a lot of brushy junk trees later. Since I will also be digging I think I will order a Piranha blade edge to pinch the small stuff (1"-2" dia). I have buckthorn and multiflora rose.

Glad I went with the Hydrostatic my only issue Saturday was operator error. I keep forgetting to unlock the parking brake. I can say one thing about mine, "IT WORKS". Ha

Thanks,
Bill

Hey Bill - Congrats on the new tractor!

If you don't mind me asking, What was the cost of the tractor? I was just looking at Kubota and got the same impression as you from the stealership. No flexibility and they were just plain rude. They wanted something like 22K for the L3301.

Congrats on the machine.
You'll be astounded at the power that Shibaura motor sends rearward.
I opted for the hydro, as well.
Keep looking for more things to do that lead to seat time.
They're out there.

BTW, I shopped green and orange before I decided on blue equipment.
I'm not sorry one bit, either.
Cheers!

I thought the G3033 LS L3BL engine was an LS built Mitsubishi designed engine?

SW, my out the door was 16k with loaded tires and delivery. I got $1,500 for my 9n. Even with my trade the Kubota was at 20K so we are right there where you are. My price on the LS with out trade was $17.5

I did a lot with the tractor this weekend I took it to my dads place and pushed a bunch of stumps over. I also carried them away to drop off the bluff in back of his land. The LS did well. At my place I also rolled a stump and did some brush hogging. I have a spot to clear for a pole barn with a mix of brush and bigger trees. Just not sure that is the best spot for the barn so I am waiting.

I think max is right this is a Shibaura engine but I think there are emissions regulations that are making LS switch. I am not sure how many more will be sold. My guess.I think the G series will evolve some.

You are correct. Shibura engines were not introduced until the "X" was added to the respective LS model lines. The same L3BL was being used before the EPA designations changed. It has been approved as an intern Tier 4 because it met the reqs even though it was originally listed as Tier 3.

The thread below was from 2011.
