Buying Advice Got my first tractor!! Need attachment advice...

I'm so thrilled!!! Been looking for a long time and finally found got a 2005 MF 451 FWD with shuttle. Great shape and less than 250 hours, plus was under $15k.

I will be clearing about 2 miles of trails on 360 acres of woods in Northern Wisconsin and need to create a few food plots. I am looking for advice on a good FEL brand/model for clearing small trees and rocks, plus need tiller recommendation for the food plots.

Can I install the FEL myself? Some mechanical ability but not an expert. Also, any recommendations for covering a tractor? i was thinking of rubber roofing, but maybe a tarp would be fine.

I can't offer any info on a brand for the FEL but if you have the $ I would recommend getting 4-1 combo bucket. They come in real handy.

Welcome and congrats on your first tractor. Get help with the FEL. A tarp will be fine for now.

if i was you id buy a massy loader from your massey dealer.an get the biggest loader thatll fit that tractor.an id let the dealer install it because you prolly need the remotes for the loader hoses.

One issue--an FEL is heavy and awkward to handle so you probably will need help getting it installed.

The Massy loader will fit the best, and look the best , a grapple is handy also. They sell carports around here for $799 and are easy to enclose, I seen one with side by side sliding doors, set up like bypass closet doors. Enjoy your new toy!

Thanks for the tremendous response. I was busy this morning today running the Bush Hog. Feel like a little kid in a candy store. Another city boy gone country...

I will work to find a MF dealer in the area. This seems like the universal response which makes sense. Also, I didn't consider the weight issue. I will have to research the 4-1 bucket. I'm not familiar with that yet. Thanks Dr. Dave for the carport idea. I think this would work well until I get a pole barn up.
