I had a RT1149 PTO tiller I traded for this chipper. The hammers look like they haven't chopped anything. I think this was either purchased and stored for the last couple years or maybe had just a few items put through it. I'm going to apply grease in the proper places and hopefully get it out this weekend or next depending on the weather. This is the Mackissic TPH 184 chipper with 4.5 inch capacity. 20190822_162441.jpeg20190822_162459.jpeg

I have a Woods 5000 chipper/shredder. One of my favorite attachments. I usually alway wear my chainsaw cutting helmet when using it. I like the eye and ear protection.

You will enjoy using it.

MacKissic make quality USA equipment. I have their stand alone towable model for ten years now and it has performed well.
Cheers,
Mike

I started out in '82 with a chipper/shredder. I just don't have any "vinye" stuff to shred so then I got a Wallenstein BX42S. I upgraded to a Wally BX62S when I got the Kubota in 2009. I will never need a bigger chipper. The BX62S will handle 6 1/2" inch stuff. 6 1/2" pine trees are as big as I can drag.

Actually - only about 10% of all the 900 or so trees I thin & chip every spring are that big. That percentage gets smaller every spring also.

That new chipper/shredder will really help clean up any "mess". Piles of chips look so much nicer and can be used around the property.

I agree completely with the idea of making nice piles of mulch. This was something I have been looking at acquiring for about a year now. The tiller I used exactly one time for a couple flower beds, and it has been parked where that chipper now sits. I'm not clearing saplings or small trees anymore, as we have the property the way we like it. But what we do have now is a never ending supply of downed branches, thanks to mother nature. My brush pile has been consistently growing behind the shed. Time to get it under control, and refresh all of the flower bed mulch! I've got a pile of leaf mulch that will be mixed with the tree mulch. Should make for nice landscaping around the flower beds and some of the trees and shady areas that don't support good grass growth.

Just be mindfull of what you chip/shred and use for mulch. Around here I will loose a few smaller pines, now and then, to Pine Bark beetle. Those few trees are felled and burned. I can't control what is off my property but sure don't want them to spread because of what I do on my property.

Also - try not to feed really dirty stuff into the chipper. The knife really doesn't like dirt, sand or rocks. Feed any really dirty stuff into the shredder - the hammers will handle that stuff much better.

Hey - have fun.

Well I made 3 nice piles of mulch at 3 different locations I had brush. I greased it up and the PTO shaft too before taking her out. Worked like a champ. I also thought I'd share an idea I had this weekend. We went to Lowe's and for $23 I got a 1000lb furniture dolly to put the chipper on so I can move it around to store it better out of the way. 20190825_165422.jpeg
