I seem to buy myself a present every year around this time,
this year it's a small phantom vision 2+ drone!
here's my first 2 videos, more to come if the wind
ever lets up!
now i need to learn some video editing software,
to add music and edit out the rough spots

I want one.
But I'm pretty sure.....no I'm certain...I'm better off with out one.
To many ways to get into trouble.

Thanks for producing that video and posting it. Did you notice all of the black s.u.v's coming off the highway? ;) :D

i just had the itch to get one, started with the little indoor toy "nano qx" to learn to fly,
and then graduated to this. the technology in this thing is incredible, and so far it has
handled like a dream.
no production , just uploaded to youtube right from the sd card. i am looking into software now
to do some editing and add music. it's fun!

i just finished uploaded a 6 minute video from lunchtime today, that one is much better , slower turns,
and a wide loop around the property, and that one caught someone's attention on the highway!
(oh and my neighbor)

Nice! But where's your tractor?

this time of year it sits in my 3 stall garage for snow removal,
but the rest of the year it stays out in my pole barn with some other stuff
:)

That Vision drone looks awesome!

Do you know how far away from your controller you can fly?

Thanks! i'm reading that some guys are going a mile and back,
they may lose the wifi connection (which streams the camera
footage to the cell phone), but if they are recording with the camera
it still records to the SD card.
i have ventured very far yet, up higher, but not far. still taking it slow,
as it's an expensive toy to lose!
tonight's sunset pictures:

and a video, rather long, sorry, there is a very slow descent .
at one point, a small flock of canada geese flew by, but when i turned to
see them i guess i didn't turn enough. (about 3:47 into it)

Very cool pictures and videos. Is this your first drone? I was at Verizon a couple weeks and they sell a "parrot" drone, or something close to that, but it is much cheaper at $300 or so. Seemed like a neat toy since the price wasn't too far out but I'm wondering what the video quality would be like compared to yours.

How do you keep track of it ? I fly rc planes ,but keep them within 200 ft . Just amazed .

I had purchased a 90$ toy to learn the basics of quad flight,, Nano QX, it was a blast.. and challenging! indoors has it's challenges for sure!

this camera is pretty good, there are a lot of comparisons with the hero 3, and from what i read from people that are photo buffs, the hero
may be a tad bit better picture, but, most feel this camera is pretty good, at 14 megapixels, and shoots video in up to 1080i, i think my
video last nite was 720p.
it will shoot photos in raw format, for advanced editing, which i'm not even remotely good at.

this package has an amazing flight system. it can make a beginner look good!
in GPS mode, once you take off if you let go of your sticks it hovers in place,
and will maintain a very tight attitude. there are other more manual modes, which
i will explore soon. part of the control system is an app for a smart phone. the phone
attaches to the phantom's radio control, and has an app that sends live video, camera
control and settings, along with flight telemetry. on the screen you see all battery levels,
wifi signal strength, (between the phantom and phone), # of satellites that are locked,
and remaining battery levels,, which is very important. it also has a small radar feature
that shows the position of the phantom from your start point, in a radar format, which comes in
handy if you lose visual contact with the phantom. (not recommended, but)

my flights have been close, all around my house, and up to about 400 feet, give or take
100 feet. as you watch the recorded video on a larger screen, you get to see so much more
than you can possibly see on the smart phone screen as it happens, and some guys use a
large tablet for that purpose.

it's a blast for sure!

This really does look like a neat system. You should run a craig's list ad for realtors offering overhead video and photos and make it pay for itself.
