Was working the road today when the steering went out . You know when something stops working you keep pulling on the levers to see wether it is you or the machine. Well. My legs feel warm , and I smell oil. I get off the tractor and I realize it might have been a lot worse. Oil is spraying from one of my steering hoses right into the bottom of the seat. Probably given the distance and my carharts not much would have happened.

Anyway. Source was created by a stick that pulled one of the lines up to allow it to pinch between the front and the back chassis.

Things could have been worse. Oil on your legs is much better than fluid in your eyes. At least the problem wasn't a major and costly one.

At least you have lots of experience snaking hoss throught the tunnel between front and back. That type of failure would take me weeks to fix, but I bet you will have it up and running before the afternoon. :D

I had a hose fitting blow out on the 24" hose between the steering wheel and the steering cylinder, and that took me a week to fix. :ashamed: simple, straight forward, 5 minutes of wrench work.

Are your hoses wrapped in a thick plastic/rubber sheet? All of my bundled hoses through the tunnel are setup that way, and it seems that would prevent the failure you had.

sounds like the day I stepped out of my f250 and could hear a peculiar intermittent hissing noise ie; the mechanical fuel pump had a pinhole in the body/housing and with every pulse it would squirt fuel onto the exhaust manifold easy enough to fix but still the possibility for a major meltdown

No threat of fire. I was just more concerned about my junk. I guess I have been looking at the safety video too much of the injuries from oil. I have blown a few hoses along the way bu none under the seat.
