Not really a story, just the most recent trip. Went this past Saturday with some friends trolling for anything that would bite. Nobody has been recently so we were shooting from the hip. Got a few dolphin, tuna and this white marlin...which we kept. Smoked a piece yesterday and it was decent. Not sure if it was the way I cooked it, but will probably not keep another marlin again unless it came to the boat dead. Anyways...nothing like drinking beer all day long on a 60' boat that cruises at 33 knots :)

Went fishing last month off of Block Island. We boated about 100 black seabass, 5 or so 15lb stripers and blue fish and a porgy. All good eating, especially the seabass. A slow day on Stripers, but action most of the day. 48 foot boat with 5 good fishermen. 3 beers at the end of the trip. Not that all day would not have been fun 20 years ago. Two more weeks and its up to the Salmon River in New York for Stealhead.

BSBs are delicious. We used to be able to keep 20/person...dropped down to 10....then to 5, now, I think....when the season is open.

I think I'll pass on the bluefish, though :)

I took the tractor down the beach a couple of weeks ago to burn the garbage. I burn it all on a gravel bar just on the other side of a small humpie(pink salmon)stream. Just got things going and was throwing the tennis ball for the pup when I noticed something splashing in the creek as it crosses the beach. The humpies have all been gone since mid sept so we walk over to check and here is a 12 lb silver salmon coming up the creek, they come up the wrong creek every once in a while lookin for their home stream, we kicked it out of the creek and got to have one last fresh silver before winter:licking:

Schools out, BSB are great. Blue fish was small 10 pounds and nice to have once in a while. Certainly not my favourite. Clint, nice catch, fly or eggsac? And, Rick, you are where all the tasty ones are. Good tractor story.

Raider caught on a fly. Started tying my own last year. I also keep one salmon and a steel or brown for eggs and tie my own sacs. Lot cheaper that way, pennies on the dollar what you pay in the shops.

Sea of Cortes Mexico – Day trip of fishing in the morning and snorkeling in the afternoon. Around noon we started catching five to eight foot blue sharks. Not surprisingly everyone was too tired to want to snorkel that afternoon.

We were chasing sand bass around mid summer this year. They were surfacing hard so we cut the motor dropped the trolling motor and started pounding fish. It was catching fish with every catch but before long the surfacing began to move. We tried to keep up with the trolling motor but couldn't keep up. So we pulled up the trolling motor and tried to start the big motor. As luck would have it motor wouldn't start. It was turning over but just wasn't kicking up. I started digging around checking fuses, and wiring wondering what was going on. Tried to start again nothing. The fish started moving our way so we said hey mine as well catch some more while we are stranded on the lake. The surfacing quit not long after so we started slowly making our way back to the ramp. A good 30-45 minutes later my buddy had an epiphany... He realized when we jumped to start fishing in the morning he unhooked the safety switch and failed to hook it back.

This was good so the fishing stories weren't based on me burying a $2 crankbait in my shin since I didn't want to lose it.

Up here on our rivers in the Northwest......we tie large magnets on the end of our lines to catch the steelheads. Yep.....Works well!
