Anybody have an opinion on these?

They cost $$ but seem fun to use.

I've seen mixed reviews on the Internet but it's hard to figure out if the positive reviews are just made by sales people in disguise...
Thanks

Seems to me that I could build one for 1/10 or less what they are asking. I'd need a lot of gophers/groundhogs/whatever to justify that.

I think it would be more fun to use on humans.

It doesn't really look effective, but boy does it look like fun! :)

I have had the Rodenator model for about 5 years. I use it heavily in the spring to eliminate gophers in my commercial vineyard. Gophers love to chew the roots of trees and vines, and once they kill a high producing 25 year old vine, it takes years to get back the production from a new plant.

They work very well if used correctly, and kill everything that is in the run. When triggered, you either get a loud gunshot type of noise, or on long, deep tunnels, a ‘WHOMP’. occasionally, the gopher has tricked me, and the tunnel turns and runs directly under me. When the trigger is pulled, you eat some dirt, and it blows you a few inches off your spot, but it’s not painful or scary, just surprising.

Later in the summer,I put it away for a while, as it starts the dry grass on fire at diffent points of the tunnel.

Thanks for that. How can you tell if it's effective? Has your gopher population declined at all? Btw I spent the morning setting traps and it feels like futility. Happy holidays you little bastards.

I had no idea I needed one of these, until I saw the video.

Now I want one.

Well not nearly the fun, but if you just buy a HF weed burner with auto ignitor for $29.99 it will do away with the underground pest just as easily. Maybe not even need to ignite, just fill hole with propane and suffocate the little ##$#$. Propane being heavier than air will settle into the lower regions of the burrow and displace the air. No need to ignite unless you just want to watch it burn.

It is insane to charge $1600 for that Rodenator gizmo.
