Re: EF-5 thread too long?

I think there are more than enough things in common between the EF and CUTs that your continued presence is very much needed and valued!!!! Just look at the issue that arose about oil, if it wasn't for JMIII, you wouldn't be doing it twice /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif...and possibly avoiding a problem. Using a FEL, hearing protection, welding, various and sundry lights, flashers, cups, et. al. We'd all be poorer should you depart. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

Re: Ear Protection TBN \"deal\"

Charlie - Just ordered mine. Maybe I won't put the supplemental muffler on the PT. That way everyone will always know when I'm using it.

I just realized I hadn't responded to this post yet. If you don't mind, how about posting your impressions of the Pro-Ears in the Safety forum, after you've had a chance to use them. I'd sure be interested in hearing how you like them.

I never thought about the possibility that having too little muffler could be a safety feature, but I guess it would make sure others knew where you were. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

qwerty15 - Thanks mark How much land do you have to clear looks like a lot

You're welcome! I'll try to get some better ones. No, there wasn't much land that needed to be cleared there - I finished it in only 4 hours.

Re: Ear Protection

Dozernut - Just finally sat down and read your entire report on the EF500. Very impressive, I am envious, that is a super nice piece of equipment. Thanks for sharing your story, it was a good read. The info on the hearing protectors was timely as I am slowly losing my hearing, classic hearing loss due to loud sustained noise. You probably saved the hearing of some of the TBN members by your articles, well done.

Thanks! I've never really considered hearing protection to be a viable option, except when using chain saws, etc. This was mostly due to the fact that I wanted to hear other things, for safety reasons. But, with the Pro-Ears, I was immediately sold, and I'm sure glad I got 'em, now. If you get them, like I said to Charlie, I'd sure like to hear what you think of them in the Safety forum. (I think this thread may be too long already... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif)

Of course, when you get an EarthForce machine, I'd like to hear your opinion of it right here... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: Goodbye

In view of DaveV's request, and following a discussion with Muhammad, I'm going to "cease and desist" with this thread. Other than replies to messages posted by others, I will no longer be posting new messages here.

JMIII - Now that you've posted here again, 15,000 should be easy. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Muhammad did say that this thread was one for the record books, and I got the impression that he hopes it's one that's never broken... /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Re: Goodbye

JMIII - Actually, I kinda thought 15,000 views and 500 posts ought to be the "put out to pasture point", but I ran out of chain and the choke collar cinched up tight before we got there. Maybe... Then again, maybe not... We'll see. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: EF-5 thread too long?

Mark,

Your right, did not mean to open a can of worms. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif Sorry /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif.

Your posts are very educational and entertaining. I'm now considering purchasing one of the headsets and have a couple questions but will post those questions elsewhere.

Someday, when my tractor grows up, hope it can be like your EF-5. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Please continue to post on TBN, rather have you on TBN and have one long thread then not have your participation at all.

Re: EF-5 thread too long?

DaveV - did not mean to open a can of worms. Sorry Your posts are very educational and entertaining.

You said that already. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif There's no need to apologize, your post really had nothing to do with all that. And if it's aggravating or tedious for you to view a long thread like that, you should say so. Anyway, I'd rather change the posting method so anybody who wants to can read them, than have folks skipping them because it's too much trouble.

Anyway, your post is likely to help push this thread to 15,000 views and 500 posts, so if there were something to forgive, you'd be forgiven. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

And as for my continuing to post, I expect you're stuck with me on that - I'm hopelessly a TBN addict, like a few others I could name... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: EF-5 thread too long?

So cut off the thread, for crying out loud. I want to time how long it takes MossRoad's PT 425 thread to catch up to the number of posts and views.

Re: EF-5 thread too long?

Charlie - I'm so glad you brought up the subject - I was considering broaching it myself. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, as they say, don't you think? If I have to stop this thread because it's too long, why shouldn't you and MossRoad? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

By the way, I'm living up to my end of the bargain - I'm just replying to posts. Of course, there's at least two dozen posts in this thread that I've haven't replied to yet... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

JMIII - not to mention the two Greyhound Bus loads of Senior Citizens that are stuck enroute to Atantic City and are now emailing Mark "invisible" questions on this forum...

John, how do you do it? You must be hooked up tight with the "ether" somehow. I was holding the questions from the Greyhound bus loads of senior citizens for my trump card, but you've up and let the cat out of the bag. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

You know, it's part of one's sacred civic duty to help senior citizens whenever one is asked. DaveV and Muhammad notwithstanding.

(Just for the record, I'm having Muhammad on a bit. He didn't tell me I had to terminate this thread - I mean he didn't say he'd terminate my terminate my membership to TBN or raise my dues to what Harv is paying or anything like that. He just said he thought ending it might be the best idea, since I'd brought the subject up. Or something to that effect... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif)

Oh, surely you're old enough to remember "ether". You know the stuff that holds everything together and facilitates the existence of thought, fate, and time itself. Isn't that what they taught in Science class when you were in school? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: EF-5 Brush Brute\'ing & Ear Protection

Mark-
Well, I know you're trying to put this thread to bed and all, but I just have to say that as a relatively recent member (though I've been reading about every day for well over a year), I truly appreciate all of your contributions to the site. As you can see from my profile, as a college student I don't even own a tractor (yet), but I truly love machinery of all kinds. The more professional-industrial type threads/posts/forums are actually my favorites to read, as that's where my interests mostly lie. So I just wanted to let you (and anyone else in a similar situation) know that your comments, even if it may seem as if they aren't terribly relevant in this type of site, are well recieved and thoroughly enjoyed by myself and others, I'm sure. Stick around! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Goodbye

Mark,

I have found that most things in life are part of a scale or “spectrum.” For example, take transportation. You can crawl, walk, run, ride a bicycle, ride in a car, ride in a plane, be “beamed” through the ether using a molecular decomposer/composer etc.… The same is true with “tractors.” Depending on your need, you can cut the lawn with scissors (they actually did this in India on some estates), a sling blade, a push mower, a riding mower, a subcompact tractor, a compact tractor, a “real” tractor, etc.… As one moves along the spectrum, the capabilities of the device to perform its primary purpose, and to perform other work, increase significantly.

I my case, I have only three acres and my primary use is mowing. However, in another state, I have over 300 acres that will need all types of work when I retire. Your discussions on the EF-5 give a glimpse into the types of work and capabilities a machine further along the “spectrum” can perform. Therefore, I think your comments are very relevant to this site. All the traffic on this thread is good evidence of the relevance and interest.

BTW, I’m now trying to convince the wife that I really “need” an EF-4 to mow the lawn based on the logic that the utility of this “investment” will be fully realized when we take the machine to our “retirement property” in like 20 years. For now, I imagine I could hook up two 84” mowers to the back and mow the 3 acre lawn in 10 minutes instead of the 3 hours it takes today. And the Hoe would be real handy with the flower beds. So far she isn’t buying it but I will keep trying. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
