I found a 74" or 72" Allied 3 pt rear snowblower with manual crank chute. I do not know what year it is. The Blower needs painted and has some surface rust. All other surfaces and sheet metal are in good shape. He is asking $700 for it. Do you guys think this is a good deal? Any help would be appreciated.

Knowing new prices and considering fast approaching snows, that price sounds not far off.
For sure if you don't buy somebody else will.

If it works for you I would jump on that. They go quick.

I know prices vary quite a bit with region, but where I'm from $700 is a low price for a working snowblower. I'd jump on it.

I usually look at used equipment and ignore anyone asking more than 1/2 of new price. $700 is about 1/3 of new price so the cost is reasonable but I'd offer $600 to start and go from there.

Seems pretty resonable -- round here they go for that or more in the summer -- definately more in the fall and winter:rolleyes:

When I bought my used Farm King (Allied) blower it came with a PTO shaft and I didn't think twice about it. After I got it home and did some investigation I discovered that the PTO shaft that came with it was NOT the type that includes a shear pin like the manufacturer suggests. So I ended up paying more to get the proper shaft configuration.

With that said, if it comes with the correct PTO shaft then it sounds like a pretty good price. Be sure to check the clearance between the impeller blades and the housing. On the new ones I've looked at this clearance has been around 0.25".

Around here that would be a GREAT price. Depending on time of year, around here 60" used typically go for $1200 to $1500, and right now folks are asking $2000, which is ridiculous as new ones are about that price.
