Good morning!!!!

made Sams club run, couldn't find a couple things, was not going to do Costco today. Roads were busy busy busy, everyone must be off already. Sams was more crowded, but nothing like Costco. no line at self scan register. Wife went, so that slowed me down. lol
She also went to grocery store, but was wore out so skipped the ice cream store. That should have been top priority..
Took golf cart off charger, but then took it out to gather SD cards. BB rode with me a little bit before jumping off. Put it back on charge. Meant to check tractor charging in barn but haven't yet.
looked at pics, still got a nice buck out back.
Updated my spreadsheet of Costco/Sams purchases for the year.

ordered a new radon meter for the house yesterday. Have one in basement, but don't know how accurate it is, so wanted another to compare. It's been creeping up some, a little over the recommended level now when was always below before. I wonder if it needs blown out, lot of dust gathers on things in basement.

let BB in the house, but he started grabbing wife's leg and foot as she was exercising, so she tossed him back out.

Oldest son in TN still hasn't got his plates and paperwork for his new car he bought last month. His temp tag expires soon, and DMV says he can't renew the temp as they have already processed the new registration. So this is throwing a monkey wrench into his plans to come up here. He's planning to come, but will go back sooner than he wanted.

most of our vintage pictures were lost in shipment

This picture is of wife's dad to her left and my granddad to the right. They were both born in early 1890's. Wife's dad had a wholesale supply business and my granddad had a dairy farm that I spent a lot of time at when growing up. Interestingly I was born on my granddads 50 year old birthday

Good Christmas Eve (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 11.6C and it's presently 20.3C, mostly clear with a strong wind.

Yesterday I did go 'into town' for grocery shopping + a quick stop at the bakery. I'm glad that I did as the holiday crowd is building up and everything was available.

I received an email that the Veterans are having a coffee get together this morning @ 1000, so I'll go and do that in a few minutes. Then I'll head on over to the Church and swap the 'colours' over from purple to white. I'll then attend tonight's Christmas Eve service @2315.

That's about it, take care all.

And my Great Grandmother, born 1875, so probably taken 1885-1890 if age between 10-15. View attachment 4634627
These photos are great! Once I dig my way out of the hole I've dug myself into, I'll start an "old photos" thread here. I'd bet there's some good stuff to see!

Since I know @kenmbz watches this thread, I'll post a few here of my uncle and his father. These were the two most recent of several generations of my family who owned a farm near his place.

There are many older than this, but lacking any special TBN connection.

I missed my nap.

I found a couple other pictures with names on, they are 2 of the children of the family that owned our farm 80 yrs before us. Old Tax maps from both 1869 and 1898 show them owning our farm. The next map in 1920 shows a different owner. Dad bought it in 1948. These 2 were probably born on our farm. I found their Find A Grave entry, and added these pictures. Hopefully someone in their family will see these pics I added. They moved up near Pittsburgh PA
Their parents were from Prussia according to their Find A Grave entry.

Texas has a new law - No paper plates. (paper plates were being abused) My new truck came with permanent metal plates.

Happy Birthday, FWT! What a cool cake and sweetheart baker.

Real interesting old photos, guys. So much history.

Wife went to Costco yesterday and was surprised how well that visit went...close parking, and although long line at regular check out, there was only one person in the self-serve line, and she whipped right through it. Got gas for $2.24.

Hope you guys get the naps you need. I'm hitting the sack early tonight to get ready for company.

In MD, dealers issue new plates on the spot. They still have temp tags, but not needed if buying new from dealer. Since i bought last one out of state, it had temps.

46F with more fog @ 20:30, calling for a low of 30F overnight.

Got studs nailed together, stood up, moved into position, set to plumb, and nailed to the floor.

Still need to nail them to the joists which I will do here in a bit, along with nailing the last stud on the end after I cut it to length.

Glued up another 17" or 18" of foam board and stuck it on near the top on the east wall where some (small) portion of the wall might be above grade.

Will do similar on the north wall where the top 14" is definitely above the garage floor.

Also added more outlet boxes, got some wire run:

Probably vacuum off the original R-19 insulation and get that stuck back up on top in between the joists.

After that it will be cutting more unfaced R-11 to length for in between the studs.

Hope everyone had a decent day ... (y)

The sad thing is that I didn't do more of this work when my grandparents or great-grandparents were still alive, as they could've easily identified nearly everyone in these photos, and even when/where they were taken. I still have a few aunts and uncles surviving from the 1940's who can help a bit, but either of the two generations preceeding them could've easily done this with more confidence, if I'd made the time to ask them before they passed.
Yes sir! A lot of us can identify with that.

We had a lot of fraud and criminal activity around those temp paper dealer tags.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 23° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 38° with partly cloudy skies. Went grocery shopping early. Crowds were not bad yet. Then did a search for some old pieces nylon plastic that I had for many years. After found it. Used to make new tips for my Nicolson Dancraft small mallet. Old caps had broken apart a few weeks ago. Got this tool during my toolmaker Apprenticeship in the 60's. Today I will need to cleanup the mess I made in shop.

Good Morning All.

good morning all and happy Christmas Eve.
Nice that Wagtail gets to celebrate a little "early".

mid 30s going up to 40's in sunshine. Christmas weather here mild, will make
it easier to get around.
heading to brother's for dinner tonight, then family get together tomorrow afternoon.

actually I will first take a run down to the battery store in Warminster and want to pick up my
new rv batteries. Will probably keep them in my home basement, after charging them on smart charger, until
ready to reinstall in March. Can't think of any reason I need DC in rv while unit stored.

one of the two old batteries is still good, going to keep that one, and return an ancient Optima battery in my garage
as the core.

well, one more powerball ticket to buy, while I'm there, will look for some something to take along for dinner tonight.

Get this one. Cut an X in the center of the lid of the bucket. Stick the suction tube through the X. Tighten thumb screws on the side. Much more stable to work with than what is shown in your picture.
Got that one "type". The reason I mentioned this at all is a local mechanic said he knew someone that had a stick type that fit in the 5 gal without needing to remove the lid and he wished he could find on like that for his service truck. I did not think about cutting through the lid. Didn't have anything along (out in the field repair) that I could have cut through that plastic. Think the model I have the piston is offset.
So, the one I have worked great and it wasn't a big deal to remove the lid. Just had to be careful out in the field not to get crud in the hydro fluid. Otherwise, worked great - wished I'd bought one years ago. :)
