I sold a lot of batteries in my Radio Shack and a lot of flashlights.
Everyone needs a flashlight, or three.
Even sold those old square lantern batteries.
some of them had some strange DC voltages.
Had to be careful with them, some sizes only stocked one at a time because the shelf life
was only a couple years.

of course, one could use a calcium carbide lamp, no batteries needed.
my favorite specialty flashlight, just in case you want to crawl inside a tank full of flammable fumes
or more likely your local coal mine, or even an overly gaseous spouse
you can have an explosion proof flashlight for 60 bucks at Walmart.
link works

I've tried the smaller flashlights. Fatter ones are easier for my hand to hold.
Small flashlights are super powerful now.
I need to educate myself on rechargeable lithiums.
think I'm up to four different number spares I stock on the 3V button batteries.
just got four more in, replaced both batteries in my car remotes. Extra small batteries, for which
a standard size like 2025 would have fit fine. Like putting in a 10 gallon gas tank when you had more room.

I've been using this much smaller Olight like yours with a magnetic base that is the switch. Its rechargeable through a USB-A port and lasts for about 1-hour. I really like it for its size and brightness (50 lumens), you don't even know its in your pocket.

I could see anything that size in my pockets, going through the washer.

The VPN sign in was messed up after updating software. Glitch on their side but now fixed

Walking my steps now the weather has improved with 5000 so far. Goal is to reach 10K daily

Reached out to veteran son after weird phone call yesterday but fortunately he sounded normal today. Always wondering about back sliding and wife is worried when he does not sound normal. He was the first of nine adopted kids

Keeping track of nine kids is almost a full time job

after six years the windshield on my car is pretty dinged, hundreds of little ones, nothing big.
490 to replace with Safelite in my driveway or 800 for just the windshield from dealer.
I decided to invest ten percent or about 45 bucks in a half pound jar of cerium oxide and a cordless drill
polishing kit with five foam pads. You mix it with water and make a nice mess I guess. Pretty sure I need to
put cover on fenders. That will show up after Christmas and all I'll need is a not freezing sunny day.
After local carwash did really nice job on the windows in and out, I drove into the sun and it was a mess.
Probably following too many quarry trucks which is easy to do around here.

hoping for a lot less cost to buff most of the sparkles out.

might be good for faded headlight covers too.

No per capita tax in Michigan. But they tax everything else. Income, sales, gas, property and anything else they can think of.
When I had mentioned per capita tax previously, we were talking about school and local taxes, not state. I don’t recall any per capita portion of our state taxes, which are actually quite low by comparison to many others. Our per capita tax shows up in our local township tax bill.

Good Afternoon to the GM thread!

It's 73F and very windy in central Texas today. Been busy picking up small branches blown out of the live oak trees this morning. One benefit of the wind is that the leaves are also blowing off to some other place. Thankfully we have no pine trees here.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! Prayers for our nation!

So are you saying you are actually taxed on the number of people who reside under your roof? Something like: for 3 people $100 tax specifically assessed for each individual?

I thought that was what you intended. Which is something I have never heard of.

yea, they left out MD
That would be a state that would fit in with the rest on that list having a common denominator. Any idea what that common denominator could be? lol

Plans for the evening...fry bunch chicken wings watch NFL game.

Enjoy your evening all.

Property taxes are local in Michigan. They include school and township taxes.

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 13.9C and it's presently 15.7C [heading to 21C], overcast & calm. Rain expected today.

Yesterday I was able to finish the house/DW mowing + string-trimming. WOOF! The temperature topped out at 33C.

I'm off to Church in a few minutes and then the rest of the day is His. It's our annual Carols & Readings service.

That's about it, take care all.

This places' taxable assessment is $115,000.oo The municipal tax levy is 0.009993404 to the tune of $536.71 The education tax levy part is 0.00153000 to the tune of $87.98 Total for 6 months is $624.69 We can only pay 6 months at a time. Everybody that owns their property pays the education tax, like it or not. This loot goes to the township.
That is what I get for living on a dead end dirt road with only electricity and a land line phone if I want it, which I don't.
Water and sewer are at my own expense as the wells (2) and septic tank are on the property.

As for flashlights I had two of those explosion proof flashlights they cost me $80.oo each and didn't last a year.
My rechargeable head light has lasted me 10 years and it is still going. I haven't hauled any hazmat (dangerous goods in Canada) in 10 years, so the headlight works for me.

I don't have to dream of a white Christmas, I'm going to get one. There is about a foot of snow on the front lawn.

I could see anything that size in my pockets, going through the washer.
They list it's waterproof rating as "waterproof" I'm not going to test it purposely, but I'll bet some day it will get washed and I'll let you know what happens.

One of our emergency flashlights is a Nightstick dual beam, explosion proof flashlight. One beam can illuminate the ground while the other points forward, with a strong clip to hold it in place when not in use. Easy to hold.

It lives in a drawer, next to the bed, along with a pair of shoes and leather gloves, all on the advice of an acquaintance who managed to be in four Richter 7+ quakes in a about a decade. (Loma Prieta, Lander, Northridge, CA, and Kobe, Japan.) He commented that tiptoeing through broken glass in the dark was unpleasant.

I got tired of the stuck fan clutch on the CAT, and figured if I couldn't get it unstuck, I was going to have to replace it anyway, so extreme measures were ok, and pulled out an air chisel to give it to a talking to. No luck at idle, but then I revved the engine above 2000rpm and that extra load broke it free. 🙌

All the best,

Peter

Breakfast with the gang this morning, picked up a couple more fry pies next door, don't tell my wife I got some yesterday....
Then went to the BBQ place again with more coupons, got another 1/2 rack ribs and BOGO roast beef. Had one of the roast beefs tonight. Good food.
Ran couple other errands, got car washed which was badly needed.
10 miles on the bike again, that's about it
