Good Morning to All Who Celebrate! Currently 34° heading to a high of 38° cold and clear but snow in the forecast, up to 3 inches. I think the snowpush should be able to handle that easily, but I'll stop being lazy and get the snowblower off the trailer and ready.
Great pics all! I'll be around shortly for round 2 and I'll take any leftovers y'all got left!
Only drama here on Thanksgiving was my aunt talking my 92 year old grandmother to go from a reasonably sized 12 pound turkey (Remember, there are only 6 of us for thanksgiving this year) to a 24 pound anchor of a bird. It barely fit in the oven, she didn't have a roasting pan big enough so she had to use one of those flimsy aluminum ones. Well, when it was loaded with 24 pounds of bird and about 3 gallons of water and other gravy related juices. She couldn't lift it out of the oven. I can already see the headline: "Local elderly woman severely scalded by monster turkey."
Fortunately, two of us were able to successfully rescue the turkey. Of course, my aunt who had convinced to upgrade to this mega bird wasn't around. So if anyone needs extra turkey, just give me a holler. We'll probably be eating this thing until New Years.
Other than that, it was a good holiday. Got the downed wild cherry tree cut up and stashed away, Dad didn't want the wood. Oh, and the Farm Boss decided to cooperate, think some bar oil or something prevented that twist on cap from locking last time. Once I fiddled with it for about five minutes it managed to click properly into place. For the first time this year, he lit a fire in the fireplace, I guess my grousing him about a fire every 4 years got to him.
Dad shoves off for "Long range wireless hole puncher" season starting today. Mom joins the rest of the hunting widows for their trip to Upstate NY. The dog and I will be here, holding down the fort. Although the dog might get dumped with Grandma, depends on if campground owning friend wants to process firewood this coming week or not. I still have days off to burn, and only 32 hours of PTO roll over into the New Year. There's also rumblings that the Great Firewood Gathering Session will be soon, either next weekend or the following, so we shall see.
Goals for this weekend: Ready the snowblower, put the blower and the push on the tractor, just in case.
Y'all stay safe out there and be well!
Prayers for all ailing and recovering!
EDIT: Oop, I said a no-no word. Sorry. "" shows what was changed.
