Good Tractor Morning Drew,

The big question is who could figure out how to do a downshift without grinding the gears ? 😂 Very tricky for people that have no clue how to perform a double clutch at the correct rpm and even trickier for people that have never driven a standard transmission. I’m sure Bill could do it, he was a professional driver 🙏
International Harvester trucks for the longest time didn't have syncromesh transmissions, I had a 1700 full tandem 5X4 transmissions with the 504 cu in motor, gravel truck. Only used the clutch to go into first and reverse. The rest of the time it was shift by ear and timing and pay attention to the tack.
I taught a 14 year old how to shift that truck, but wouldn't let him drive it until he turned 15 (he was a little taller then and could reach the pedals easier), only in the pit.

Later in life I got me a '70 Louisville Ford L800 (the first year of the Louisville line), had 5X4 clark transmissions full syncro trannies and still shifted without the clutch. Taught 5 guys in their 20s to shift the same way. Two of them had Hayes trucks.
I've been on many road tests over the years and hardly ever used the clutch and still passed the road test.
Although I know how to double clutch, I hardly ever did it.

Our 60% chance of rain turned into 100% chance of snow. Got 1.5" so far. Meteorology, the only job where you can be wrong 90% of the time and still keep your job. They might as well say that it is going to be dark tonight and lighter tomorrow. They at least would be right 100% of the time.;)

good morning, 35 going to 55 sunny conditions

Fired up, easy one flick of the lighter

Did not not do much yesterday. Did some shop and project cleanup and getting tools and supplies back in places where it can be found again.

Wife wrote Christmas letters to friends and family.

Talking about trucks and transmissions back when doing truck repairs I was sent to retrieve trucks and at times the clutch would not engage.
Started it in the lowest gear to get it moving and changed gears without the clutch. Stopping was step on the brake and in the process kill the engine and start over

At camp folks and reception is poor. We got furniture moved in and will leave the enclosed trailer here and will be back for the holiday weekend. Got an extra dog along we're watching for the week. All is well when we are at camp! 😁 hope everyone's weekend is good.

Good morning TBN!!
46 going to 70 after and 80 degree day yesterday.

Buddy got his axles shortened and welded so he came over and installed them. Went well and he was gone in a couple of hours.
Then I went back to sorting bolts. I have most of the done so I will take a break from that for a while.
I got the stud put back on the buggy. Not quite what I need so I will still replace it when I go to town next time if I remember.
Another buddy called and said he had 1" square tubing for me so I will pick that up too. Part of the frame repair for the buggy.
Not real sure what is on the agenda for today.

Had a second cup.
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Good morning
28° when I let Zoe out this morning, up to 40 now.
A bit grey and damp.

Yesterday was wet and dreary when i left for Palm Beach, it was pretty nice there.

Did my usual 40 minute FL vacation and headed home. Another lunch over the Atlantic Ocean at 45,000 feet.

Wife was at a fiber show for the weekend, so youngest son saw that Zoe got out periodically and had fresh water. I was home in time to feed her dinner, and the two of chilled in front of a fire until bed time.

This morning started with cleaning out the ashes and getting the fireplace ready for this evening. Just finished my bowl of special K, now I’ll head over to the shop and see what router bits i have for Drew’s project.
After that, i might see what i can do with the recording from Friday night’s get together. Its difficult for me to go into the shop and not do some cleanup from the last project, work on the present one, or start something completely new.
Tomorrow I’m off to Orlando for a checkride in the Simulator. Seems silly to fly down there and back just to fly the sim for a checkride. But i don’t make the regulations, just try to follow them.

Morning all, 36 to 53 and cloudy, possible rain.
So I got bored yesterday and rearranged the garage to partial winter mode.
Had all the powered items out, moved the Lawn tractor to winter parking.
Took out the snow blower, put in some gas and checked everything then started it up easily buy hand, didn't even need to bother with electric start.
Figured out how to put in the forks for winter since they are a newer addition, they block in the bucket, but would be easy to back out the tractor, drop the forks and pick up the bucket if I need to, will reverse them when I know snow is coming as it's easier to go bucket to plow.
Still need to repark the little wonder once I finish the leaves.
Wow is that bay packed full.
Found I had left some gas in the CS490 saw, so took it for a spin to cut some rounds.

I have lots of sassafras trees here, really like the leaves.

Lots of little items to get done today, pick up apples, dog walk may go to HF later and get a tap&die set to finish some projects.

Did work on my friends table join , one board cupped a bit, trying to straighten it out, but edges seem in ok alignment. Not sure why one board cupped and the other didn't, 2 cuts from same tree. Took 6 months to straighten the center, wonder how long to get the cup a little less so I can join the 2 pieces, I don't work fast, obviously :)

be well,

yes, 2 tractors, snow blower, walk behind blower, chipper, generator and everything else like a giant puzzle.
