walnut piece ordered is 1.75 inches thick; wanted something beefy to sink longer screws into.
means a lot of predrilling but that's not hard. Need to hunt some four inch long square head or torx
screws at hardware store.

does Torx/star strip out less than square?
Square drive screws lost favor many years ago. Nonetheless, I sure like torx better, and they tend to not get chewed up.

are all torx or star drives the same?
do they have different numbers of teeth and is their some standard?
I think six teeth is standard but?
you need a combo of both grip and strength

don't think they quote steel quality or hardness on the box
predrilling carefully here will reduce the problems

learned a new word, hexalobular socket
aka Torx being the brand name

It was a relatively low scorpion year.
low Snakes too.
low Mosquitoes too.
only 1 tick found on ceiling. 1st tick ever seen here on this property in over 20 years.
no hurricanes either.

killed 1 big big skunk tho

Been a quiet year on the home front. :)
Sounds like you need me to mail you a care package. Biggest tick year here ever. Just glad we don't have scorpions or fire ants or killer bees.

Hello all. My Mother passed at home Friday 14th at 4:42. My Dad passed 10 years ago almost to the day. My wife, I & Mom's caregivers were with her, she passed peacefully. She was 98. I'll make funeral arrangements Monday, ironically our wedding anniversary, together 53 years.View attachment 4416944
Condolences Fuddy. Great picture. I've been lucky enough to fly in many fabric planes similar to that one.
My mom is 96 and doing OK. She has to use a walker to get around and is NOT motivated to do any physical therapy.

Pick your poison right? I think the fire ants are the reason we don't have many ticks.

Well, amazon failed on the delivery of my fuel pump yesterday. Says it will arrive today or expect a refund? Does that mean they will give it to me once it arrives? I did not order the GM unit. Got the cheaper aftermarket with decent reviews. May regret it later. We don't use the truck much except to go to church mainly. Have only put about 35,000 miles on it in 10 years.

Lets tag team and get him up to what we are dealing with. LOL.

Bumper crop on ticks. And tick bites, meaning they were attached.

On bees, really "yellow jacket type", bald face hornets. stingy, aggressive, fast movers.... had to call in the pros. I lost count after four treatments. Most interesting one was the yellow jackets finding a little space right under my HVAC drip line. That made the crawl space available to them. The rest just ended up in buildings where we just could not handle them. Also had two ground nests that I poured gasoline into. One by the mailbox....made for quick delivery and pickup, one by the garden. It was a beeautiful year. LOL.

Mostly, safe travels my friend.

Painting. One job I hate to start but glad when I'm done. I've searched the world for a paint brush that fits my hand but haven't found one yet, closest thing to fitting is a sprayer.

Our football team plays at 11 this morning central time. Been doing rather well so far.

David, is your back better?

I hope all of you have a blessed day.
