Cleaned up the shop a bit, and then got the chipper up to fix it. I thought the issue was a broken weld, but it turned out to be a 1/4" metal tab bent too sharply that had cracked. Cleaned it up and welded it, and for good measure laid a bead on the matching flange on the other side to strengthen it and give the bend some heat to relax the strain. Then ground away my errors, as I need much more practice welding vertical welds. Sanded and primed everything, so it will get painted later today.

I noticed that the rhubarb that we had been given last year that only managed to grow three four inch leaves last year, and then died back in the winter, only to grow two small leaves last spring suddenly seems to have decided it likes life with a couple of 18" long leaves growing at a big clip at the moment. It is nice to see. Perhaps we will have some rhubarb in a few years.

The grass in the pastures seems to be growing so fast that you can practically watch it. We had had a few tenths of an inch of rain a month ago that got the grass sprouting and the deluge seems to have sent the grass into high gear. Usually if the grass gets a good start before winter sets in, it manages to shade out a lot of our invasive weeds.

Today is probably digging up mud out of the gutter on the driveway, which is all hand work, as the gutter is a variable six inches down and five to eight inches wide. I've learned to pick my battles as timing is everything with our gutters and the clay soil; too dry, and the soil is a rock and you can't tell where the soil stops and the asphalt begins, if it gets too wet, I'm shoveling mud syrup, a bit too dry, and I can't get the clay off my shovel. The pigs made a mess of it after our storm, so at least the soil is somewhat loose.

If it is too muddy, I will probably move on to some overdue projects in the shop, but it depends a bit on air quality. We have had some easterly winds the last few days blowing crud (AQI 150) from the Central Valley here.

All the best,

Peter

Morning all, 51 to 69 and partly cloudy.
Spent the day getting the leaves moved, used the little wonder to do the shared road, driveway, side and behind garage areas,
Then did more Halloween setup, got the lights in place and the movie and 3d screens set.
Tonight will have some friends over for movie night. Making most of the food, with all my food issues we can't have people bring anything...

Went into town for sunset and to pick up dinner.

Well, back to setup.

Be well, and waiting for pictures of Sodamos tractor at work.

The sitting area is ready, now to put out the screens and projectors. One of the cheap effects projectors failed after 3 years, $80 from Amazon for a replacement. we run 1 for the movie and 2 for 3d effects.

This time of year the sunsets give off a golden glow. The river is extremely low.

Have fun! That sounds like a great event.

That is a gorgeous river photo, and quite the homes with a ton of cars. What's the draw?

All the best, Peter

successful morning but think I'll pay for all the crawling around.
took large load of garden mess to the woods, and got a nice last picking of peppers and some
green tomatoes.
one of my neighbors likes green tomatoes thankfully.

then I tackled the rv. Lot of oil, managed to not spill it everywhere, got old oil into storage container.
put 2000 miles on rv since I got home from last year's trip.
While I was under there, sprayed Waxoil over anything that was at all rusty

that's enough for today

71F and sunny @ 12;00, heading up to around 78F for the day's high. Low this morning was 45.9F.

Checked on seep last evening, no water beaded on fitting but felt slightly moist. Will recheck here in a few ... but it doesn't seem like it's going to be an issue.

Headed outside after that to collect up the drill and some screws to hang some black pipe (gas line) to supply the furnace in the garage.

Couldn't stand it and took a look at the posts for the gate on the east side.

They weren't that far out ... so I got them leveled up and plumb and started filling in the holes. Also a little cleanup around other holes.

By the time I had that done it was getting dark and starting to get chilly ... so I headed on in ... without the drill and the screws ... ;)

Woman fixed some tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner after I ran down to DG for more cheese and few other items.

Got my hot shower after that ... which felt absolutely wonderful.

Then spent the rest of the evening conserving energy on the couch.

Agenda for today:

Finish up filling those two posts for the east gate and get them tamped in.

Have the posts for the north gate setting around back ready to go ... so might try getting those set and braced and tamped in.

Goes pretty quick when The Woman and I tag-team on it.

She is already back there working in the weeds.

Depending on how all that goes I might try to get the front mowed again before the rain rolls in tomorrow.

Ten Day shows highs only in the 50's this coming Tuesday thru Saturday but warming back up after that with highs in the low to mid 60's ... so still an opportunity to get more done outside while it's still reasonably nice.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)

70°F and .06 inches rain

Dried enough to get a few hours mowing with my “ground engaging” flail

Very pleased with results. Hard to believe this is same area I got stuck twice not that long ago. Hope to get to other side of the drive this morning, wx depending

Two couples invited over for dinner tonight. I’ll be attempting a slow cooked prime rib on the Primo grill.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great tractor day

Good morning! The prodigal son has returned......

Wow, take some time away and things change rapidly..... threads being bounced around, censorship for certain words, kind of expected with the current state of affairs.....

BUT---- new tractors, repaired tractors and equipment, and a lot of other interesting things...
That's what TBN is about!

On the homefront, Dona is still holding her own. No new symptoms of the lymphoma. Her next follow up is mid November. We are hoping nothing will be found.
Her back is the big issue currently, She is waiting to be scheduled for for back to back "epidural shots" --- first two shots at L-3&4, second two shots at L-4&5. Hopefully these shots will give her some relief. At this point, she can barely walk.
Unfortunately, insurance requires to do the least invasive procedure first and jump through hoops. Two providers think spinal fusion will be the final result.....

The new garage build is progressing, albeit very slowly. This one man show is kicking my butt....
I do get help from the son on the weekends, but the last two weekends, the weather didn't cooperate. Over 2" of rain, flooding, and mud don't make it any easier.
I'm still at "frame" stage, screwing wood girts on the steel frame for siding. Can't get the roof on until the siding is on.....
I have installed over 4,000 self tapping metal screws so far.... only 2,000 more to go....
I haven't even taken any pictures.... maybe today. Today, mother nature isn't cooperating again... 20-25 mph steady wind with gusts to 35. I'm not going to torment myself and fight the wind. I have to go find 2 tarps that decided to take a trip... maybe visiting Kyle over in Texas.....

I am hoping that everyone has a great weekend!

David, nice looking field, you should be pleased.
now you will just be making Paradise prettier

took those peppers down to my brother's home, could not make left turn against traffic getting out of his community,
there was such a steady line of tourists on route 202, finally said forget it and made right turn and went home. Was going to go downtown to McDonalds for a burger but not on Saturday apparently so I came home and barbecued some beef-chicken burgers. A little dry as expected but not overcooked and slathered with condiments gets the job done.

Peddlers Village will be mobbed, am guessing that's where Popgadget is playing.
may his tip jar overfloweth.

Found the missing tarps....using binoculars ---
20 acres away. Took a hike and retrieved them. Now the knee is complaining that I went off road.....

While out there, took some pics of the build. IMG_1594.jpegIMG_1593.jpegIMG_1592.jpeg

And.. a few pics of our new truck. I can't remember if I had posted them before....It's a '22, but only had 19K miles on it, a corporate lease return from a casino in Las Vegas. We got a great deal- $37K out the door, original sticker was $65K.
IMG_1545.jpegIMG_1546.jpegIMG_1547.jpeg

Now, time to knock a few honey-do items off the list.

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 7.4C and it's presently 14.1C [heading to 19C], hazy overcast & the wind is beginning to 'pick up'. A bit of arvo rain is being predicted along with the blustery winds.

The flagpole is down.

I'm off to Church in a few minutes and then the rest of the day is His.

That's about it, take care all.
