I wonder if I have a choice of what kind of glue they make me into ;)
can I pick my Titebond III favorite?

always have to look at bright side. No huge operation ahead which is a serious challenge
for a single person. And so far no one has said my cancer has come back, which I will know for sure after
a colonoscopy I get after my rv trip.
still in the ballgame and more at bats to come...

means taking more pain pills and wearing a back belt for a while.

have a second surgeon ready to call, need to think it over.

meanwhile I read group medical costs are going up almost 9 percent next year and cost
to small business group going up 11 percent. On average cost to employer next year
will be $17,000 per employee, or over 1400 a month premium cost.
After two 7's in a row.
will involve redoing many plans, going to a more limited benefit cap to lower the cost.
So I guess you'll be ok unless there is something seriously the matter with you.
then read the fine print on page 63.

Let's see if Medicare and BC/BS will give me a 5 year rate lock in like
auto insurance.

a depressing morning
lead local spine surgeon reviewed all my scans, said my back was so bad
he did not recommend surgery, would take a foot of titanium rods and likelihood of a bad
outcome was high. Lovely. So he is getting me his personal pain doc to give me an injection in my hip,
which I hope will help with walking, then lower back.
oh well

looks like the glue factory is the next stop
So sorry to hear.

Another consult with another surgeon in order? We always go with more than one.

Pain is no fun, wish insurance companies had better options in dealing with it,

68°F and 0 rain

Good trip to Costco’s just earning more points than expected. That’s pretty much made the day. After unloading called for energy conversation. That worked

Surprise invite by cottage Canadians for breakfast this morning. Looking forward to it.

H&F this afternoon

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

good afternoon, Rained hard this morning and more in the Fc this afternoon, sunny at the moment

Went up to the scheduled appointment to check out the van in Mechanicsburg PA early this morning in a hard rain storm. Visibilty was very poor and I 81 shut down due to a crash. When getting close enough saw a car that had been rammed between two truck. It was reduced to half its length. Must not have been survivable

The clattering in the front seems to be due to front stabilizer bushings worn out. True to form the dealership wants to replace the bar and end links as a unit for 1550 dollars and on top of that it has to be shipped from Germany

The online site I use for Euro parts has the bushings and end links separately. Will order them and do it myself

But nothing wrong with the parts that really matter for safety like steering brakes suspension components

But they like to pile on that the struts is recommended to be replaced. A little rust, don't think that means they don't work.

Same with several other parts for total bill of 7000 dollars

So I will spend 100 dollars and fix it myself

A diagnostic check up is something I do periodically and when I ignore the make money items it can be useful to identify items that need to be fixed

At 220000 miles it is not unexpected

Neighbour ladys' gravel is all spread and packed more or less. She will level it herself. Was a real nice load of pit run, right out of the bank.

I tried to get a video with my phone of a cold start on the Kioti. Had the video running from the time I got into the seat through the glow plug cycle and the start up until she started running on all 3. Didn't happen. Got back at the puter and only got 5 seconds AFTER it was running on all 3. :(
Better luck next time.

75F and mostly cloudy @ 14:15, WU calling for a high of 72F for the day ...

Low this morning was 60.6F.

Rain gauge now at 3" ... so we picked up another 0.5" yesterday.

Need to empty that out today.

Some spotty showers around, generally south of us, running in a line from the southwest to the northeast ... doubt we will see any of it.

Ten Day looking very good:

Screen Shot 2025-09-25 at 14.52.38.png

Slow getting rolling today after getting up early before the sun was up to take a whiz.

Some more kitchen clean up done first thing yesterday then on to the veggies.

Got 11 lbs, 13.8 oz of yellow squash cleaned, shredded, vacuum-sealed, and stowed in the freezer:

IMG_3876 copy.jpg

Also did the same for 4 lbs, 4.9 oz of zucchini.

And sliced and bagged 2 lbs, 8 oz of the smaller parts in 3 portions for sauteing:

IMG_3877 copy.jpg

Told Woman we'd probably be giving lots of yellow squash/zucchini bread for the holidays.

She just laughed and said "We don't know that many people ..."

Probably true ...

Ran out yesterday and got mail which had 2 Menards rebate checks in it, one of which I had them reissue because I have not been able to locate it.

Agenda for the rest of the day:

Bird feeders due for a refill.

Remove tree branch in the circle that fell.

Probably work on bailing water out of post holes.

Maybe get pre cleaner for Cub air filter oiled up if it is dry and swap that out.

Grass will probably soon be growing like mad ... if it isn't already.

Other than that just see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Thursday ... (y)

M7040, and not a drop of rain on this side of the county. Saw about the backups on I70 ad I81.
Yesterday was a bad accident with death near me, intersection we go thru about every day. One of the two vehicles ran red light no doubt, but the semi won, and person in car died. I suspect the truck was running a late yellow, but pure speculation. I told my wife and son, always look both ways, even after the light is green.

Lunch with our future minister went well. Very nice young man that just had his first child in July. Boy he sure has a lot of books, that I helped move into his office at our building. This his 2nd carload of books...

Not much else going on, my wife tried to pick up my walmart perscription, but they couldn't find the $10 copay card I've been using for the last 5 yrs, every month, said they had no record of it..... I said don't get it. I go thru this with walmart almost every month.

Trip Day 8: start to head home. 9/11 Never Forget
Night before we ate supper at Marco's Pizza next to the hotel. We just got one here in Frederick this spring, we eat at them in AR and TN.
Starting the previous day, My wife was now coming down with something, so wanted to head back towards home. I had wanted to see Crazy Horse, but there's the next time.....

If I had to do it again, I would have added a day from TedRoosevelt NP west to Little big horn area, then back to devils tower and stopped a day later in Rapid City. My wife has not been to Little Big Horn, but we both want to go back to Cody WY and yellowstone sometime.

First time stopping at Wall Drug, and got some good fudge. I got my pic taken with a Saloon Girl, and my wife flirted with a cowboy.... No pics, must not have happened.

Then my first time driving thru the Badlands. So many pics, will limit it.. More buffalo down there somewhere...

Stopped at the 1880 town, which is a town made up of old buildings moved here from other locations, used in movies. Did not pay to go in, maybe next trip. the restaurant was closed for the tourist season. So took a few pics of what can be seen above the fence and from I90, and kept moving.

Lost an hour as we crossed back into Central Time, crossed the Missouri River once again.

My first time past the Corn Palace.

Then back down to Sioux City IA, and stayed at a terrible Comfort Inn, but it was free using points. That ends the highlights of the trip, but have a couple more I might add later.

Any of you have Culver's restaurants? they are based in wisconsin. Another place we like to eat in the midwest. We stopped at one in Sioux City IA going both ways. We stopped at one in Rapid city the night before, but the line was so long we left.
