Good morning!!!!

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! Currently 76° heading to 90°, clear and sunny. Calling for thundershowers later tonight though.
Happy belated Birthday Happy and Mostly! Here's to many more!

Work was busy until Wednesday and then the brakes suddenly slammed on. Not that I'm complaining, we need the break. Because of that, got out a little early several times. Once got down to look at the trailer. They seem sturdily constructed, title and tag done at a local notary 3 miles down the road. All said and done, I should be able to get one for about 6k. 4-5 week lead time, 10% deposit marks one for me. Now the struggle of convincing myself I need one.

Otherwise an uneventful week. Mom developed a cold that was gifted to her by my sister/nephew, so she's battling through that. Fortunately, she is baking a fresh apple pie for me to take up to "Friendsgiving" tomorrow. Once I get back from that, likely just more mowing and that's about all.

Y'all stay safe out there and be well!
Prayers for all Ailing and Recovering!

72F and mostly cloudy here @ 09:15, WU calling for a high of 89F with scattered pop up showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Winds out of the SW @ 5 - 10 mph.

Not much in the way of rain here yesterday although it threatened. They got hammered just a little north of here, complete with Flash Flood Warnings.

Hopper and tube feeders refilled yesterday afternoon, also scattered some seeds for the ground feeders.

Friend came by and we got his welding project completed.

He gave me a hand moving the new cattle panel into position and getting it stood up. Got one corner secured to the existing arched trellis.

T post clips MIA so made another trip over to TSC.

That ended up being rather fortuitous, with me coming home with what might be the deal of the year … at least as far as TSC goes.

When I had been there earlier to pick up the additional cattle panel, there were two ladies ahead of me in line with one of them going on about some “75% off all plants” sale they had going.

I had noticed the small display with the 75% off all plants sign up near the main entrance when I was there the first time … but didn’t think much about it at the time, very little room left in the garden at this point … I’ll be hard-pressed to find locations to get the last of the tomatoes I have planted.

On the second trip to get the clips for the t posts, I happened to spy a bunch of nice looking shrubs sitting down near the entry gate for their fenced in yard.

I figured “Hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask …” so I asked the associate and he said he had just clarified it with his assistant manager and yup it was on everything: plants, shrubs and trees.

A couple of years ago was thinking about picking up some more arborvitae to plant over on the west side as a privacy screen/hedge between us and the neighbors.

Came home with 10 pretty nice looking “Green Giant” Arborvitae in 2 or 3 gallon pots, currently stand around 3’ tall including the root ball:

IMG_3747 copy.jpg

Tag says they should grow to 25’ to 30’ tall and 8’ to 10’ wide.

Regular price $24.99, $6.25 a pop with the 75% off …

Think they had 2 left of that variety and 2 more of a different variety. Seriously thinking about heading back over this morning with The Woman and see if there’s anything else She would be interested in.

Got those unloaded after dinner and moved around back.

Did a little more work on securing the 3rd section of the arched trellis to the t posts on the west side.

Sat out in the chair until around 22:00 waiting for Rocky to materialize but was a no show again.

The bait that I set out the night before and the dish that it was in were completely MIA yesterday morning. Nowhere to be found.

Did smell the aroma of skunk as I walked back to the sliding glass door going into the basement.

Went back out in the garage around 23:00 and worked out there for a couple of hours, straightening up and organizing.

On today’s agenda: (in no particular order)

Need to get Water Buffalo refilled today as I emptied it out the other day just watering stuff in the garden.

Get some wax bush beans planted.

Pound in the last 2 t posts for the 3rd section of arched trellis and get trellis mounted and secured.

Get last zucchini planted.

Get last 2 winter squash planted in the ground.

Haul down more wood chips to mulch around the Russian Sage and those 2 small rhubarb plants I worked the other day.

Some glyphosate spraying.

Temporary garage door repair.

Grass down here around the house needs mowed but will probably let it go until tomorrow when it’s supposed to be hotter.

See what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent TGIF.

67°F and .08 inches rain

A bit more mowing done, more today

My one pot chicken Alfredo was a hit. Likely make it again someday.

Guys won H&F, but not a runaway. The girls kept us on our toes.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Scott, nice pic
David, Glad alfredo was a hit
Drew, glad safe trip, hope river ride is good.

Hot and Humid again.
Had AC guy out to give a quote on a new system. Ouch... He quoted a Trane unit. Said No one has yet to buy the mitubishi super duper inverter one, for around $30K-$40K depending on options.... Nice guy. He will let me do some of the work, like running condensate drain, and having the electrical suddenly appear in the correct places..... He is insisting that 2 ton is enough for upstairs, I had wanted to go a little larger, as my 2 ton geo unit seems undersized when it was working correctly. He's afraid of a short run time with larger unit, not enough dehumidification.

Just can't believe prices on things.

Amazon has a MrCool unit for $3500, not a minisplit, but regular ducted unit.

I've had the Mr. Cool for over a year and it's worked fine, once they fixed the remote software.
Everyone has said the weak point is the springy sections of the tubing to allow people like me to install without cutting and evacuating. So far these are holding up, wonder how it'll be in a few more years though.
Real hot moving tables around, putting out umbrellas etc.
A little weed trimming and blower touch up, fell once already, ouch. not too hurt though.

90.8F here in the shade @ 14:00, some clouds starting to build just north of us.

Big line showers to the west but they won’t get here until around 17:00 … assuming they hold up.

Got the WB refilled.

Moved 5 arbs to the patio and watered them after setting them in catch pans.

Got last 2 posts driven in for the 3rd section of the arched trellis. Hit a soft spot and over drove one post (too low), no easy remedy until I can get the loader in there and lift it with a strap.

3rd section of trellis fully clipped on to t posts and secured to the 2nd section of trellis.

Woman came out and has been going to town on pulling weeds from the 3 rows of planting holes for the bush beans. I’ve been helping Her with that for the last hour or so. Almost to the end.

Drove in a couple of tomato cage rods and got asparagus tied up so it’s not in the way.

Came in to cool off for a bit and refill drink glasses.

Good to hear.

Put a request into Lowes for a new system install price. Got immediate call back from a company. scheduled a visit, then did a google search on the company, and got bad reviews, lots of bad reviews. Called back and cancelled the visit and got a run around just doing that. I'm half expecting them to show up even though I cancelled.

hot and sticky on the Susquehanna River too but a fun boat ride
ancient Elco 65 foot runabout, built for Anheuser Busch in 1910 or thereabouts, and twin screw electric power from the beginning. I sweat and then sweat some more, then mopped up. Flat out boat went 8 knots and there was zero breeze. But it was fun and I got a few pics, not many, which I will post when I get home.

rv had sat out in sunny Walmart lot for hours, was 91 inside when I got back.
not much cooler than that now and my friends are coming back over for a glass of wine
at 4:30 before we go out to dinner. Temp is slowly going down, I closed off the bedroom was hotter due to afternoon sun. If rv had been plugged in, I would have left vent fan on and a window cracked but not in that parking lot.

time to go horizontal and rest before friends come back
